Another Exhaust thread....But a good one
I work at honda....and i notice that the 2003-07 accord v6 has the exact same exhaust from the heads all the way to the mufflers....with exception of the mufflers....now i know Apexi makes a Cat back for the 03 accord v6....its like 600 bucks....has anyone tried installing it? its made only for the Coupe Accord....but im pretty sure the wheel base's are the same...

I also work at honda and have noticed the similarities, but havent studied both,such as mounting points. My previous vehicle was a 04 accord v6 6spd, which has borla catback exhaust on it, i still have the accord in the family so i will take a look at it and maybe try it on for size, and see how well it fits the tl, it would be great if it was an exact fit!

Your observation leads me to believe that my theory is correct. Greddy has already produced the TL exhaust but they just aren't grasping the concept that the Accord and TL are brother and sister.

too bad i have an exhaust already, if not i would of tried it out. If it didn't fit, then chop it up and make it fit!
Someone try it out for others waiting forever for greddy to make an exhaust. Won't be expensive since you got just about all the piping and stuff needed. It can be made to fit regardless.

im gonna do it eventually...just give me some time....i have tool bills to pay....i just bought the test pipe for the v6 accord to delete the third cat....so hopefully after that...ill get the exhaust...

That would mean that Honda uses the same exhaust on a 3.5L 290hp car as they do on a 3.0L 240hp car with the exception of the mufflers. I know Honda is known for parts sharing accross engines sometimes that is what makes these cars so "tunable" from an aftermarket standpoint, as the components aren't optimized for the given application. That to me is lunacy!!
I haven't measured the pipe after the cats on our TL-S, but if its a mere 2.25inches as some have said, it would mean there should definitely be benefit from going bigger on the piping.

well the TL-S is supposed to have a less restrictive exhaust...i dont own one...or never worked on one....but when i put my TL-P in the air....and compare it to teh v6 accord....very identical....except out TL's use a aluminum sub frame...where as teh accord is steel or something....i dont know my metal's too well...even teh suspension parts are the same....struts, springs, tie rods, ball joints, control arms, along with the rear suspension....its all identical....im alsmot 100% sure that the exhaust are teh same...so im just gonna buy a v6 accord exhaust and put it on....and we'll see how that rides...but i gotta pay my carpayment...so its gonna have to wait....grrrr

i think the only difference in the TL-S exhaust from the TL is a less restrictive catalyst 600 cell vs. 800 cell and the sporty dual outlet mufflers out the back...thats about it.

There is no such thing as too many questions. Everyone I talked to about the Eibach said there is no degradation in ride quality. Not just from AZ, but all the guys with custom rides at the College Auto program run Eibach. Springs aren't on yet. Just waiting for the suspension guru to have a free night on his schedule ( the CF console trim kit will be installed at the same time). I've been reading all your posts since the meet. The springs WILL be on for the Jay Hondafest, hopefully the RonJons will be in before then. Still selling the Enkei's, the guy backed out. Now I'm just selling the wheels. I'll give you a good price and I can meet you 1/2 way-therefore no shipping.

^No worries it should work just fine on the TL but you will have to extend the mid piping a little, approx 3in, since all the Accord exhausts like the Tanabe, Apexi, Greddy, Comptech and Borla are for a coupe model which has a shorter wheelbase (105in) than the TL and Accord sedan (108in). Everything else is almost identical since all three cars use the same basic chassis/underfloor. Of course I'm talking about the V6 Accord=dual exhaust and not the 4 banger model which uses a single outlet!
The only manufacturer I'm aware of that does the full bolt on exhaust for the Accord sedan is the Magnaflow!
The 2nd Gen CL/TL and the TSX exhausts should fit as well but likely with more alterations needed since those chassis are slightly different, remember that the 7 Gen Accord/ 3 Gen TL is a significantly larger car! If you decide to go this route though you'll be rewarded with some exotic exhausts like Mugen and Fujitsubo for the TSX for example!

yeah...well i just put my Accord Test pipe in today at work....made a little diffrence...a little umph in the top end.....but i have a 5AT, and i was gettin a raspy exhaust sound at like 2500 rpm....but putting in that test pipe took care of that....makes it sound real deep and throaty not bad for $60...all stainless....ill take pictures and post them later....

Yes my car is a TL...And no i did not install a Megan Pipe... The Rasp was before the test pipe, and the test pipe did eliminate the raspy sound. I put straight pipes in where the premuffler and resonator were. I used the test pipe for a V6 accord 03-07. i bought it on ebay, i just typed in "05 accord" and found a test pipe.

just found a new exhaust mod....for the accord again tough.....it will fit though....instead of buyin procats for like over $1000, OBX makes straight pipes that replace both Catalytic converters in the head, has a flange that bolts to the head, and comes with the flex pipe and uses factory hangers...380 shipped....i think ima have to jump on that real soon too...

So I can use any aftermarket accord Test Pipe and it'll fit directly into the TL exhaust?

as long as its for 2003-2007 and is for the V6 accord, yes...but the cat back for the accord v6 i can only find for the coupe....so if you get a v6 coupe cat back for your tl, you'll need to get a custom pipe to extend the length a few inches....but besides that...everything else is the same...ill prolly get teh "headers" next....

for the o2 sensors, im just gonna put the sensors in the pipe...they have "bung" holes <--- hahah bung holes.....but no seriously...they're called bung holes....ill put the o2 sensors in those...and just deal with a Check Engine light on....for me its easy...since i work in a shop, i can just put the cats back on when i go in for emissions

I thought E-shift was supposed to make these "half-headers" for us.

i dunno...im down to get these obx pipes and see how they run...pro-cats are way too much...i could probably sell my factory cats for the same price as pro-cats...and jsut buy pro cats...but i dont know who would want stock cats....besides scrap yards...

hmm so lets say someone buys the obx downpipes, if they were to add a high flow cat to where the 3rd cat used to be, would that be good enough for performance gain and to pass emissions? or do we absolutley need 2 cats whether if its high flow or oem?

There is a flex pipe. Anyway, bad news. My muffler guy won't install it, ughh!! So it's up for sale in the black market. Still brand new in box and it's due to arrive tomorrow.
My car is currently in the shop getting an exhaust done though. It will be done by 6 today...i can't wait!!

Which specific tips did you go with? Do they fit in the existing openings with no problems?
I was at the dealer today and measured the quad tips on the TL-S. They are huge. The opening is 8" across!
