they're all the same. filter is the important part. get a dry flow filter and you're good.

Do you have a bypass so you wont suck up water. Or does the CAI not go that far down to suck up water?

youll only suck up water if you literally drive through 2 feet of standing water. I've had mine on for 2 years and have driven through terrible rain storms...no issues.

don't drive through bodies of water, and you'll be fine.

^ what he said...
I don't have one for the TL yet, but I had one on my Civic Si. I even had some pvc pipe run from the lower vent next to the fog light straight to the filter. Never had any issues with water and I remember driving through some pretty nasty rain that year.

I put the AEM V2 CAI in my car, seemed like the only one with any substantial difference.

Old group buy thread is here:

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-performance-parts-modifications-112/aem-v2-group-buy-04-08-acura-tl-07-08-tl-s-03-07-honda-accord-v6-723001/

AEM P/N is aem24-6110C

It was made for the Honda Accord but it fits our cars.

If concerned about water AEM also makes a pre-filter air-filter wrap that can help prevent the filter from becoming saturated with water/mud seen here:

http://www.aemintakes.com/search/pro...px?Prod=1-4000

That one fits the V2 CAI, I have one on mine.

This is the V2 CAI on AEM's webpage:

http://www.aemintakes.com/search/pro...?Prod=24-6110C

Hope that's helpful.

Outside of some better sound....it won't help. Our car already has heat soak issues as it is.

Like they said...search, bro. It'll save time and headache.

its a tube with two holes for vac lines and a filter... so yes all the same.

Only differences are, would you like a shiny, shiny red, shiny blue, shiny grey,
or shiny black tube. O and who's label do you want on it.

The stock intake is a cold air intake. It breaths from behind the drivers side bumper grill.

actually it takes air from multiple points past the filter.

and even though it's a semi CAI, it's severely restricted which makes for poor performance. Plus the plastic retains heat more than the aluminum

How can it take air from multiple points past the filter? Are you referring to the PCV system?

All intakes are not the same. Companies uses different material, different thickness of aluminum, different filter, different materials on the filter, oiled or dry filters, etc. Also, there is actual R&D behind most major companies intakes, as well as dynos and sometimes CARB info. eBay generally has poor quality intakes that are made overseas with little attention to detail and quality. Yes ebay intakes will fit but they aren't the same quality. If the piping diameter is the same it might make similar power if the filter medium is a good quality.

Personally and professionally, I have always believed you get what you pay for.

I still have the stock cold air intake system on my car.
the only way, i'll change is if I do a custom unit with a velocity stack towards the opening of the car, keeping the stock air filter.

No that's not really true. The pipe goes down behind the bumper grill, but it comes back up into the engine bay

If price has anything to do with it, why are AEM intakes so poorly designed that they tie it to the body and in some cases that the tab rips right off the intake?

I suppose to mass produce something does have a high ROI based on different colors and making it pretty, but the cost is outrageous.

BTW, I have one. Paid a lot and it's sitting on the shelf.

It breathes through the front bumper...

I agree. No sense in sacrificing your filtering capabilities just to have a few more hp that you typically don't get to use 99% of the time anyways.

BTW: Looking at the above illustration, it seems it would be pretty easy to add a 3" velocity stack (maybe BPi) just below the filter box where the tube enters the lower bumper area. Even still, deep water would would be your enemy. But it sure would sound good with all the resonator chambers removed.

and actually the stock velocity stack mounts right up to the tube after the resonator.

I guess you're right, I don't remember it looking like that when I took my bumper off, but it's been a while

the velocity stack acts more like a snorkel than anything

As you saw in the diagram the pipe (snorkel) that goes up into the engine bay, the port by the wheel well, and there is a fluid release point at the lowest point on the intake.

Okay I'll ask again...How can it take air from multiple points PAST the filter?

Maybe you meant to say "before" the filter.

Edit*** Nevermind, Justin got it handled.
