?? to all 6mt drivers
I've only noticed a few times that the clutch feels slightly different after agressive driving/shifting - feels tighter actually. Always attributed this to something with the self adjustments, hydraulics, or whatever.
But I'm no expert.... Southernboy will hopefully chime in on this thread, he has an incredible amount of knowledge with MT's!

yeah, it does. I think are clutches are very susceptible to 'glazing'. Im not sure exactly how that condition relates to pedal feel, but it definitely affects it. Basically, ive glazed my clutch over 3 different times now, from racing friends when they get new cars. The day or two after an 'episode', my pedal feels like it takes 5X's the effort. But after a couple days of driving regularly, it goes away.
We need a new clutch bad!

No, I haven't noticed anything strange or unusual with my '04 manual TL. The clutch is tight and with the VSA off and a cool air, the car will break traction in first, second, and third gears. Under such conditions, first is generally almost all wheel spin.
I have heard some people mention that they felt the clutch did not engage quite as quickly on hard shifts after the initial launch. This appears to be a built-in "feature" to protect the drive train from shock due to hard shifts. Something to do with valving, I believe. I have not experience any deliberate control over engagement. Such a thing would keep my TL from spinning the tires in the 2-to-3 shift.
If our clutching system was mechanical, I could pretty much guarantee that the reason one might notice a "stiffness" or increased resistance to clutch disengagement during hard shifts at high RPMs would be caused by the gyroscopic effect of the clucth assembly.

Comptech has supplied a "performance clutch" as well as a lightweight flywheel for the Honda R&D Americas class winning Acura TL...

Do your tranny's feel almost too smooth?
I've had my car for a little over a year now, and like many in the beginning, it took some time to get used to the clutch. But w/ all the talk of clutches going bad, i must admit im a little paranoid. The car is still quick, but doesn't seem as quick. Im thinking that i've just gotten used to the speed and the quickness of it. I guess im also feeling that the car is not as fast in all the lower gears. 2nd gear is a little jumpy at times, and i can't even feel myself going into 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th gears. A big part of me feels like i've just gotten too used to the car and have learned the shift the car perfectly. I find it hard to 'not' shift properly.
Im assuming that if the clutch was going bad, i would notice the car hesitate severely or the RPM shooting up w/ massive resistance in the car. The only thing i do notice since i don't really push my car too much is when i accelerate hard, i almost feel this sense of the car holding back a little in the lower rpms. Is this the difference between VSA on and VSA off?

I hear your pain. I've been working with competitionclutch.com on a pressure plate disk package for our cars. the 03 cl and 6speed tl share the same pressure plate and disk. I've spoke with competion clutch the other day and the word is it's about a month away from completion. Here is the thread to bring you up to speed. our clutch also fits the 7th gen accord 6spd, they are on it as well.

It's time for another round of emails to them. Email him and express your interest in the completion of this package. The more people to show interest will only help our cause. email away. chris@competitionclutch.com.
