Aftermarket Intakes

I'm in the market of looking for an aftermarket intake, but there is one thing I dont like about them. I dont like that when u throttle it, and you can hear it gasp for air, and also the hollow steel type of noise that it comes with.

The only alternative option besides the AEM cai, and the injen, is the Icebox, which I had in my previous car and loved. I was wondering if there are any other non steel/aluminum designed intakes out right now? I remember that K&n made intakes with ABS plastic material for the piping. Does that intake have the hollow metal sound?

Also, I had an AEM intake on my previous car, an rsx, and even though it sounded great, and loud, and made good power, I don't want this sound on a luxury car like the TL. Thats what Im trying to avoid.

THanks.

I dont think the Icebox is out for the 3G from Comptech yet. If avoiding that sound is what you are wanting....you better wait until they release that and not get any of the other ones. They all make this sound.

I was thinking about this, and most likely will go that route. I believe most the aluminum tubed intake make the sound I dont like, but the pvc/plastic piped ones keep that to a minimum. I'll try to post a DIY if I do decide to go with one. Also, how would I place the sensors if I go the DIY route?

If you dont like the hiss.. Give it more gas.

I know what you are saying at a slow cruse, there is an annoying noise..If i give my car 1% more throttle (it goes too fast) the sound goes away.

Roll the windows up and turn the radio on.

I prefer the sound of an exhaust over an intake. =)
