AEM v2
AEM v2
So I am new here but have been reading quite a lot. I am relatively handy but never done any work to a car before. As it stands right now I've got an AEM v2 cai waiting for me along with brakes and coils on the way. This question is for the cai but if you have anything to add about doing the brakes or coils that would be great too. I am looking for any tips here. I've read it is best to take the front bumper off and that I don't need too. What are the pros and cons to this. Any tips or tricks that youve found is a huge help here as I'm new to this sort of thing and don't want to look anything over. Thanks in advance.
Front bumper def has to come off. The intakes resonator is huge and youll realize after the bumpers off theres no way. For coils, ide say start hitting everything with pb blaster to break rust. The intake install is easy though.
I have a 7th gen Accord, I was able to get the resonator out after removing the left front tire and fender liner but it would probably have been easier to remove the front bumper-in fact, when the bumper was removed (better access to the a/c condenser) I was able to get the intake tube from the front of the engine compartment and connected to the resonator out. Once the resonator is out of the way, the rest of the install is pretty easy.
ive put a few on and never took the front bumper off. With stock wheels you can actually just partially remove the fender liner (front half obviously). Bigger arms it is a little tight for me but still get it done, so with thinner arms its easier, and with the wheel off its easier.Actually did one at the same time as brakes and it was easy.
as far as coils they are pretty simple to install- take wheel off, unbolt the top and bottom, slide old one out an reverse.
brakes- depends what u r doing

The brakes are the most intimidating. Last time I did brakes was on an old car I wasn't worried about. I was thinking of just doing pads and rotors because flushing the lines freaks me out for some reason. Seems complicated I guess. However I am also worried about getting some of the older fluid into the abs system as I've heard that's bad. Also seems people worry about how to spread the pads apart in order to fit back on much more than I was worried last time I did brakes. Might be totally out to lunch here though.
