AEM CAI bypassvalve diameter?

I just purchased the CAI from AEM but i would also like to purchase the bypass valve for extra protection. The only problem is i can't find the correct application since they offer the valve in a 2.25, 2.5, 2.75 inch width. Intake is still being shipped, i believe the part number is 21-513. Does anyone have the bypass valve, if so what is the correct diameter? Thanks...

They don't make a bypass valve application for the 3rd gen TL intake.

Don't bother wasting your money and cutting up a good CAI by adding the bypass valve. On my 1990 Accord, I cut up my AEM CAI and added the bypass valve. I was in an accident which destroyed the bypass valve so I just put in a silicone coupling instead and have never had problems. I drive the Accord all year round and even in heavy rain and snow. I guess if you live in an area that is known to be usually under water then it might be useful. But the best way to avoid getting water in the engine is to stay away from water.

I kind of agree with the not needing one theory. Correct me if I am wrong but the AEM version is shorter than the Injen CAI? I think it's short enough that you don't need one. I had an Injen CAI on my Altima and I did have a bypass valve. The bypass was needed because the cone on the intake was about 10 inches from the ground.

The "problem" with the 3rd Gen TL is not the tube diameter (you need only measure your tube to see which bypass valve fits)-- it is finding a place where it will fit into the car-- there is not room under the hood -- and it makes not a lot of sense to mount it directly above the filter. . . about the only place it would fit . .

The AEM filter is relatively high-- and if you avoid deep water (over 10") you should have no problems.
