46 degrees + CAI + 6 speed
46 degrees + CAI + 6 speed
Woke up very early this morning; a cool, crisp morning. Decided I’d go get a cup of coffee at Caribou. I left the car outside last night since I was only half way through the pre-winter cleaning.
Got in, cranked it over and I let it warm up for a few minutes. Started on my way just tooling along, no big deal. I let the car warm up as I got my caffeine fix, then decide take the long way home.
First light is a left hander that becomes a 3 lane that is posted at 55. I wait about 2 full minutes for the light to change; I don’t see another car the entire time. It finally goes green and I start a mild left turn. Half way through I just nail the throttle. Massive wheel spin, hard push right, grab 2nd, more wheel spin, hard acceleration, nail third with a loud bark from the tires. Good hard run up through 3rd gear. The sound was incredible. The car felt extremely fast.
After turning around I’m once again at a huge intersection, 3 lanes each way, double turning lanes…… and I’m sitting there alone ( and facing straight ahead this time ). OK, I haven’t done this in a long time but here goes. Light goes green; I rev to about 23-2500rpms and dump the clutch. I get serious smoke rolling off of the front tires ( 245/45/17 ), not just a tire squeal but full on smoke. Shift well into 2nd and get more than a chirp but a good amount of spin and some slippage sideways. And finally a loud, solid chirp into third.
The AEM CAI and a nice cold morning, what could be better.
Oh, and the coffee was great too.
Conditions: 5;30am, 46 degrees, VSA off, windows down, seat heater on.
