3rd Gen TL exhaust

What's the best exhaust on the market right now for a 3rd gen TL? I wanted to get the Greddy Evo 2, but I guess they don't make them anymore.

Base TL or TL-S? What kind of exhaust note do you want? Honestly, Marcus made one of the best videos I have seen of the difference between the XLR8 and ATLP.

How come ATLP for Type-S is so quiet and for base TL it's so loud

XLR8 for base TL sounds better to me but I don't like the tips.

I have the ATLP and it is AWESOME. I looked at it for a good two years before I actually bought it. It sounds quiet to me but all my friends say its loud and that they'll hear me coming from afar.

Here are the options I was given....Just getting peoples opinions on my options; As per GuLuMoNeY's recommendation, I took the TL to a local muffler shop, seemed to be a decent fella; his recommendation was to go with a custom exhaust made at his shop vs. buying a ready made one from XLR8 or Tsudo or gReddy (the last being the one I really would have loved to have!!). I showed him this youtube video as this is what I want -
He recommends using a 3" pipe (I need to confirm material on the pipe) crush bent in his shop with magnaflow mufflers that will look and sound similar to the gReddy - all installed for $575!! (He said he'd let me try out the system without resonator) and if it's too loud then he'll place the res no charge; Also he showed me some options for drone that he could do at an additional cost ($70); It would be great to have your guys's opinions as to my options

Hey guys, Im new to the site and I just purchased my first TL. I wanna make some modifications to it as soon as possible (exhaust, suspension, rims) but I wanted to know a couple things. I love the ATLP quads but I typically am seeing them on the tl type s. My question is would they fit on a base 3g TL?

We'd be happy to help you. Send us an email to sales@excelerateperformance.com or give us a call at 203-483-6100 and we can put a package together for you. Also, check out our website in our signature.

The TL-S quad tipped exhaust will not fit the base TL unless you modify the rear bumper or install a TL-S rear lip.

Depends on what that "exhaust system" is.
XLR8, ATLP, RV6 catback? No you don't need to. They start from the 3rd cat.

I got a greddy evo 2 on my Tl and love it! I bought mine used with low miles on it, and for a good price. I had been looking for a while and did a lot of homework on Tl performance when searching for an exhaust and Im glad i chose the greddy! It has a nice deep roar to it and vtec kicks in way harder!

sure.

why not?

you have all this information available to you.

the only way you'll know for sure is IF YOU experience it yourself.

so, go ahead and purchase something and get it over with.

Our XLR8 exhaust will pick up about 10 hp and tq but yes if you want just a better sound it will definitely do that.

ANY exhaust modification/replacement will alter the sound of the exhaust compared to stock.

^That.

Now the sound you are trying to get may vary based on your opinion and yours alone.

Exactly, not a fan of UA7 look on a UA6, especially when it's not a total convert.

I used to love ATLP, reason I stopped is because the tone it has is similar to my Stage II set-up.
The tone is just more denser on the ATLP of course, could say cleaner and louder.

RV6 is totally something different. Sounds amazin. But has a deep tone. Which I did love actually.

ATLP is the one I haven't heard, but from the videos it always pulled my attention. It's exactly the tone I want, not deep but kind of M5 ish, more like a Treble, instead of Bass
Don't know how to explain it.. anyway that's why I really want to hear it in person or try it

Honestly, Marcus did an awesome job with this video showing the ATLP and the XLR8. I think the XLR8 is hands down the better sounding exhaust in the video but judge for yourself.
