Yeah, there really aren't any secrets. And the few that exist are only going to provide a very minimal gain. Driving style is the biggest by far. I got 28 mpg on my very first tank straight out of the dealer. But I drove like a total grandma. After 500+ lbs of weight loss, a CAI, exhaust mods, synthetic oil and all the new maintenance items (spark plugs, air filter, etc.) you can bet the car is much more efficient. But I still get about 30-31mpg which isn't a significant difference. The difference is, I drive much more agressive than before. So all that stuff I did pretty much went down the crapper because I refuse to drive like a grandma all the time. If you do decide to drive like a grandma, you can get much better mileage. But then you're just not enjoying the car . For me, I drive like a banshee when I feel like it, and like a grandma all the other times. It's about a 50/50 mix

Tires, weight, and driving style play the biggest roles. When I had 17's I averaged 34 MPG straight highway and 20 City. When I had my heavy 19's, it dropped to 29-32 MPG straight highway and like 16 city. Now with lightweight 19's my mpg jumped back to 32-33 mpg and 19-20 mpg city.
De-accelerate before stops, when you can in traffic, etc
Lose the spare tire and excess weight.
Don't know how to figure out on the tire but touring/all season tires for me usually are better

OP as thechamp mentioned running a 20weight oil or putting a new air filter or whatever, wont help you much....yes it a good idea to keep the filter clean but dont go on replacing it every 5K miles....
the suggestions i have for you are:
1> DRIVING STYLE: I cant stress on how important this is....easy on the throttle, early shifts, coast to stop lights....drive like a fucking grandma....I use the Sport Shift mode and shift early when i care about the mpg
2> WEIGHT OF THE CAR: This affects a lot in the MPG as well...the less the weight the better the acceleration and MPG...
3> COOLING MODS: One this which determines the power is timing...if the engine pulls the timing, the car looses power and you press more on the gas pedal and hence low MPG...do some cooling mods, keep the underhood temps as low as possible and you will see an increase in MPG

Maybe someone said this already this but Synthetic oil makes a difference.. When I switched for the first time I got an extra 40km to a full tank. Now I cant complain about my TL shes perfect..

well off a personal answer id invest in a throttle body spacer. i have one in my 05 tl and legit saw a difference. easy install which just comes down to changing bolts any john doe who knows how to use a wrench can do it. its increases fuel economy especially if your on cruise i can get up to 430 miles on a tank. but also increases hp which you can feel a difference so take it east on the lead foot

well i this is after i was already drove for about 10 miles while on cruise control then stopped to get gas. Filled up and started driving again, changed to see my miles to empty and so more than symbol 360 which was cool after the more than symbol went up thats when my miles to empty went up ...i legit thought my display was broken

RANGE DOES NOT PROVE ANYTHING
you are saving your mpg increased after installing TBS, by how much??? do you know what the TBS does ? how much was your AVG MPG before you got the TBS???

No, nothing noticeable. Maybe 1mpg if that. Probably because those mods shine when a lot of air is being pushed through the exhaust (higher RPM's). Most of the time I'm just cruising below 2K or so which doesn't really take advantage of the increased capacity of the exhaust system.
And I'm gonna have to be skeptical on the TBS as well. I've installed a TBS and have noticed no improvements in mileage, power or air intake temps. I did it for kicks and giggles and because it was included with the IM spacer from Outlaw Engineering. I don't think it can hurt but I've never really believed in it's usefulness.

the one thing to always remember when seeking tricks for beter fuel economy is if it were that easy, simple, or cheap, they would have put it in there to begin with! the millions manufacturers pay for not meeting fuel economy averages would certainly motivate them to just add that throttle body spacer, or add that "vortex" generator or any of that BS if it actually worked. two small tips that certainly wont hurt things but would be minimal at best, buckle your seatbelt/adjust stereo and whatnot before you turn the car on everytime, and if the engine is warm and you catch a light you know is long just turn the engine off.

^Not really
If you have HIGH mileage, then maybe, but most people here that have taken apart engines say there really is no carbon builup in newer engines running 91+ octane.
Seafoam can help clean out the motor but doubt you notice any significant change in gas mileage. I used it before on my 99TL that has 190k miles but that was because my i pulled my manifold to clean the EGR port and i figured it wouldnt hurt to use seafoam.
Pour a bottle of seafoam or fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank and call it a day. Repeat this process again if neccesary.
ps. I averaged 32 mpg on my trip yesterday to work (70% hwy/30%city and about 45 miles)

Seafoam has never helped me much with the TL. I used for the first time at 60K and I barely saw any smoke. Tried again at about 80K and still, no noticeable difference. Unlike the Accord where I was blowing it out something crazy.
The more I use Seafoam the less I'm convinced it works all that well. Especially with the TL.

^^^ i used to use seafoam when i used mobil1 or some like that....every 5K miles....
1/2 can in gas tank, 1/2 can in vac port and 1 can in engine crank case....saw a lot of smoke most of the times....i tried it after redline and no smoke....hence i quit using it

^^^ I would say it depends on what oil you use....
if you use some cheap oil, do it....its worth it....if you use quality oil, you prolly dont need it....
every 15-20K miles i would still do it, just for that extra 0.000000001% of protection and cleaning....I have spend $20 on worse things

with premium gas coming close to $5 a gallon here in nyc i decided to start using fuel treatment additives again. used the techron chevron fuel system cleaner about a week ago and noticed that my fuel gauge would go down slower. this was on the tank of gas after i added the techron and i drive the same route back and forth 5 days out of the week
dont have numbers to post up because i havent reset the average mpg/mph counter. its at 9500 miles at 17mpg/21mph average
gonna use lucas fuel treatment next because i heard it quiets down the engine noise

Intermediate
setting cruise on the high way at 68 i get 33 mpgs . i run 40 psi , mid muffler delete , a cone air filter on the stock intake tube , also i have bypassed the throttle body coolant line. 93 and up octane fuel.

is this valid, you be the judge but this is how i got into the 30's (pure hwy)
(because apparently shot pulley or valve adjustment wouldn't do that,,)
hard reset ecu (battery disconnect)
drive around on nice pavements with a cup of water and do not spill it
(unless you've done it you'll realize gas pedal is REALLY responsive off the line lol or i just suck at right foot)
never exceed 2k rpm
whenever cruising, cith 35mph, hwy 60, try to let off gas as much as possible to the point where you are losing speed 1mph/minute
do that for a tank or two then MPG soars up.
now, if you even WOT ONCE, it'll go back down.
damn artificial intelligence.
