Here are some pics and sounclips. If you look through this thread you will find more pictures of my car. PM me if you have any other questions.
Going on 3 months and all I can say is that I LOVE this exhaust!

Basically, what we have designed is a catback exhaust system for the 04-08 Base TL. However, as we have seen recently this should be able to fit the TL-S also. We are actually looking for 2 more test subjects. Our base test subject was an 06 Acura TL A/T with an AEM CAI, provided by twigglius. Thanks Chris. He has been able to enjoy the system for a few days now. He can comment on it as well. We are looking for two more test fitters in the Phoenix, AZ area; one 04-08 TL 6 Spd so we can see the gains with a 6 spd (we estimate another 3-4whp) and a 07-08 TL-S so we can check test fitment on the TL-S, hp gains, and we want to offer quad tips on the TL-S setup![Smile](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
So what we have developed is an XLR8 Catback Exhaust for the 04-08 TL Base specifically. It is a T-304 Stainless Steel Resonated Catback exhaust system with dual muffler and 4.5" rolled angle tips. We will be offering two systems for the base TL: resonated and non-resonated. The resonated system is deeper and throatier than stock with a sporty note and no drone. The non-resonated system will be more aggressive and slightly raspy likely with a few more hp.
Peak gains on the system were about 8 whp and 7 ft lbs of tq on a 06 Base TL A/T and BB said their dyno usually reports 3whp less than most other dynojets. Peak #'s went up about 7 whp and 5 ft lbs of tq at redline from 209whp to about 216whp and 186 ft lbs of tq to 191 ft lbs of tq. As you will see when I post the dyno there was no loss of power or torque throughout the entire RPM range and peak torque was acheived around 3K. All these gains were on an Automatic Transmission and with the resonated system. I'm expecting peak gains to go up at least 5 whp with a 6 spd and non resonated. We will find out though shortly. So without further ado:

Here's a video of the dyno and the car pulling away at WOT:

I will post up the dyno once they give it to me in a format I can post. All I have is bad fax copy right now.
These should be ready to ship in about 3-4 weeks. I still have to dyno test and get a video clip of the non-resonated setup on a 6 spd. We will also be making a J-pipe shortly too and a quad tip setup for the TL-S.
The price on this exhaust will be $975 shipped to the lower cont US on the resonated setup (list is $1100) for the AZ members and $950 shipped to the lower cont US on the non-resonated setup (list is $1075). You may send payment to excelerate@sbcglobal.net via Paypal and please specify what you're ordering and for what car.

Curious here Apostle. Does yours drone at 2k rpms? I know my installer was not the best (how could they mess this up?) so I'm wondering how the inside of the car sounds to you.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I have a very mild drone at exactly 1500 RPM's. It's not that bad at all though. Do you have the resonated or non resonated version? Mine is resonated.
How does the exhaust feel to you?

Despite the horrific sound from the digital compression artifacts (does anyone have a better quality clip?), I think that system has a pretty nice tone. Not sure what the differences are in the mufflers, but I like it better than the tone from the ATLP system. It makes me even more curious about the Type-S version.

Thanks for the response. I have the resonated version. But yeah, I'm definitely droning at 1500 RPMs. I just notice it more at 2000-2500 as that is cruising speed for me. As to how it feels... Hard to answer, Had an intake and TB Spacer before, had a J-Pipe and pulley installed with the exhaust. Car feels more responsive (mostly due to the pulley I assume), otherwise I just can't tell with all the noise in my head.

^^The exhaust mods are making more of a difference than the pulley; between the J-pipe and catback, you netted ~15hp.
I just ordered the resonated version, so I'll post my findings, but I'm 6MT and they don't seem to be as prone to the drone.

Ordered the resonated version today. I got the ATLP J-pipe, 3rd race cat, and I can't wait to put it all on. Its really going to open up the engine to its capabilities.

Just received my exhaust this morning. Wow that was fast, I just ordered it 3:15 EST. Josh don't play! In the installation instructions, it states to disconnect the battery to reset the ECU. Is this necessary for an exhaust system? I'm sure it wouldn't hurt. Also, isn't there a fuse I can pull, the clock backup, instead of disconnecting the battery? Thanks in advance for any input.

Installed j-pipe, 3rd race cat, and catback at the same time
Its hard to tell what the gains from the individual components are. I do feel significant gains all through the RPM range. There is a very mild drone around 1500-1800 RPM, but it is very subtle. I must say the exhaust is slightly louder than I expected from listening to the sound clip, but it is not obnoxiously loud, just very mean sounding. The round tips do look badazz even with the RJ bumper. I recommend this to anyone looking for a catback. I must add that I ordered at 3:15 PM and received it the next morning via UPS. Once again Josh came through in a big way.

Sorry guys, I got called into work and I won't be around until next weekend and I won't be able to post the pics until then. Trust me, you will not be disappointed with the looks, sound, or performance of the exhaust.

The exhaust is likely louder than what were in the sound clips b/c you added the J-pipe and the race cat. Eliminating a catalytic converter will definitely increase the exhaust note.
Let's see those pics.

Only problem i had was a loud rattle which was caused by the heatshield in the rear, and the left driver side muffler hangs lower for some reason, i have to see if it is the way the mechanic did it or not. Overall, im very happy with these mufflers, has a real nice sound (non-resonated) I also think these will look 10x better with the aspec installed.

^^My left side hangs noticably lower, too. The front hanger on the left muffler is off a few inches from where it should be and may be the issue. The factory rubber hanger is almost horizontal because of this. And the right tip is offset toward the right of the car on mine. I've done all I can to make it all line up right, short of taking it somewhere and having them heat and tweak. Tough to tell, but it looks like your right tip is offset as well? Great quality exhaust, but it loses big points for fitment. At 6 gallons of gas shy of $1K, fitment should be flawless.

yea, the right muffler is touching part of the gray area on the bumper, if you figure anything out to fix it, let me know.. The left side did hang a lot lower than it is now, but stillhere153 helped me out and we were able to get it up a little bit, but it's still noticeable.

I wonder if its THE CAR and not the exhaust. Ive seen a post where the comptech exhaust seems to fit a bit lower on the left.
When I got mr RJ kit, someone noticed that my stock exhaust sat a bit lower on the left?
What about the fitment on the right side....does it touch your bumper as stated in the previous post?

but the tips are sticking out, maybe 2 inches. I'm considering getting the aspec rear bumper

Hmmm....tips sticking out.....one side hanging lower then the other....I've got similar issues with the type-s exhaust. I thought the hanger was off...but everyone keeps telling me install error....oh well....I'll keep messing with it.

I've read many exhaust threads about people's exhaust hanging low on one side. As someone stated earlier maybe it a design flaw on the TL and an aftermarket exhaust just makes it more noticeable.

So the resonator is a bit smaller on the "production" exhausts vs. the one The Apostle has? That could explain a lot to me! The exhaust has certainly grown on me. My car definitely feels a lot different. Drone at 1500s on, makes my cup holder cover rattle, but meh.
And thank you to everyone who mentioned the left side hanging lower. I thought it was also an install issue, but apparently its just a flaw (car or exhaust). I feel better, but I still cringe when I walk up to it from straight behind the car.

^^Didn't you look at the exhaust before having it installed? Go peek under your car and then look at the original pics on the first page of this thread. My resonator is noticably smaller and only my cans are polished; the rest of the exhaust is not.

I guess it's common on the IS350 with A/M exhaust, too. One of the guys there fixed it with those huge zip ties. Sounds cheesy, but next week when I do my J/test pipes, I'm gonna loosen up the mufflers and see what can be done along those lines.
As far as the Comptech, that is one exhaust I've never heard of an issue with. People rave about the perfect fitment, with absolutely no tweeking and all the pics show perfect centering of the tips.

FYI.... my ATLP left side also hangs slightly.. just slightly lower... i think it can be adjusted by hand.. i just havent had the time...
my comptech also hung just a TAD lower on the left side... my guess is.... the back of the mid pipe (near the Y connector) is NOT centered with the car.. the pipe bends from the center, towards the passenger side.... what does this mean? the support is biased towards the right side, which means the weight of the mufflers will show, and make the other side hang lower.. i guess the heavier the exhaust mufflers, the lower the left side will sit...

FIT: The exhaust piping is adjustable, play with it before tightening the y-pipe/muffler clamps. The muffler rubber hangers could be zip locked or squeezed otherwise, with clamps, to bring the left muffler up a bit. Again, pull it up, to the side, however you'd like to align it, and hold it there before tightening anything.
LOOKS: BB mufflers are slimmer than Comptech's, with a bit larger and better finished tips. These features conspire to give the exhaust a low key, neat, but still aggressive look. The mufflers/piping are little visible from the A-Spec apron from behind and side, all you see is tips, which is good thing in my opinion. From the side view, the tips seem to stick out more than Comptech's and way more than stock tips which almost don't show at all from the A-Spec apron.
SOUND: Non-resonated version is loud and boomy, especially at low RPM and when you let go of the gas. It becomes better and nice sounding after 2K RPM and higher up, little raspy approaching the red line. Better flowing j-pipe, test pipe, no cats, etc.., increase the noise, so be prepared to at least put the 3rd cat back in, get a large resonator, or both
PERFORMANCE: To be honest I don't feel much difference, as expected. From a dead stop, at low speed/ RPM the car feels as if it is laboring more because of the noise from the exhaust. Before the car seemed to be on the verge of bugging out if you don't give it enough gas, now it pulls out cleanly w/o much slipping the clutch and giving it much gas but the noise seem to overwhelm whatever gain there is. It feels like the high RPM pull is less stressful and is improved.
OVERALL: Solid quality, good looks, fine sound and performance past low RPM, but the fit and noise control could be improved.
