Casino187 - I also have an 07 TL-S and my navigation kept giving me disc reading errors so the dealer replaced my entire navi system. The disc they gave me was 4.56a and not 4.62. They told me the 4.62 will not work in my car because it is an 07 and not an 08. Can you tell me what version your navi system is and if the 4.62 disc works?

Everything I have read has said that the reason the 4.62's were not available when originally scheduled, is because there was some software glitches in that version.
The fixed version is supposed to be avail. Jan 2008.

4.62 works fine in my car. well, it's actually messed up a couple of time with a disc read error. I just had to reboot the navigation to fix it. That could be because of it being a copy of the disc I made.

Yes, it does have some glitches (from what I've read), so I would just wait until the next version comes out. I will be upgrading again.

How do I find the version of my navigation system? the 2007 and 2008 systems should work with the same discs.

Eject the disc; 07-08 TLs are on the "white" generation of nav discs / systems; 04 - 06 is orange / previous generation.

white = 4.x version range
orange = 3.x version range

If you have nav traffic, you have the 4.x nav system; if you can play mp3s you have the 4.x nav system

As I have interpreted it, the "new 2007 update" is a later version of the 2007 update that came out last year. It will have updated Daylight Savings time, but not the updated POIs and what not that the 2008 3.7 version has. Acura is trying to play games and be coy, IMHO.

The white version 4.xx, is also used in the RL 2005-08. I'm waiting for 4.62 for my 05 RL to be rereleased in January.

.. you've got me totally confused. It says right there on the website, the 2008 update (which is "Ver 3.7 2008") contains updated maps/poi's and the dst fix.

I think they need to change the opening line there:

2007 Update is now available.

It should say the 2008 Update is now available.

maybe they forgot to change that part..

well.. no.. hmm; technically saying the 2007 update is available is correct; we are in 2007 and it's released in 2007; the data however is considered "2008" and will not be changed until next November.. So, yeah - kind of like how new cars work - in 2006 you're buying a 2007; in 2007 you're buying the 2008 map release..

I do not care about the sale so much as the hacks. That is the only reason I have not ordered yet.

Auto Daylight Savings Time switching per new 2007 (March/November) schedule

I think is time for me to update. I'm using the 2005 disc.

We are getting ripped off here by Acura Canada..... CDN $245 these days = US$255.

I am willing to bet these DVD's are identical

well fellas... as you know I have the 3.7 Navi DVD... I tried doing the HACKs... specifically the OK button bypass... the splash screen hack works with no issues.... but when I try to do the navi.exe hack for the OK button bypass... it work by bypassing the OK button but when the system goes to the map display... there are NO STREETS, no lines, no nothing... the screen is BLANK... meaning that all you see is Beige or Black (night mode)... I tried Kennyc's file and tried patching with AngryDad's file.... none works... hope someone else can shread some light on the 3.70...

Sorry Fellas...

Ok, the hack thing is what it is. At least I know I can still get Halle Berry up and running! Now for the equally important news:

Are there any major differences in the software Rod? In other words, is this just a gimmick to hit our pockets for the DST? I have a 2006 disc, so I want to know is it worth the price of admission? If you know of some places you drove that didn't show up before, and do now, that might be a great way to start. Plus, a lot of people said McDonald's was hard to get right for them. Also, is the setup or display different? Oh yeah...HOW BOUT SOME SCREEN SHOTS????

Let a brother know! Hey, you bought it first, so you the guinea pig! Get to work mangggg!!

Angry Paying for the DST fix

Not to hijack this thread, but the fact that Acura/Alpine is making us pay for the DST patch burns me up.

I bought my car in 2006 and have the 2006 Navigation disc. Both Acura and Alpine were well aware of the DST changes coming in 2007 and didn't bother to update their software for this. A clear engineering flaw which should be covered by warranty.

And now in 2007 they want customers to pay $149 to fix their mistake. It's not the money that's the issue, but the fact that they sold us a $3000+ system with a well known flaw. Most software providers would provide you with a free fix to solve a engineering problem.

Contrast this to Sony. I bought a Sony BluRay disc player for $1000+ (don't ask why). Since then, there have been three firmware updates released. I could download them and burn them onto a DVD to fix the problem. But Sony also offered to mail me a disc completely free of charge!

I've complained to Acura having bought a $33k+ product but get a standard "sorry but this isn't covered please buy the upgrade" response. I don't buy BMW's anymore because of this screw the customer attitude. I used to be a strong supporter of Honda/Acura, but they don't seem to be much better when it comes to customer srevice. Total nonsense....

your 2006 nav software is probably dated in 2005.. just like my original 2004 disc is 07/2003; don't remember exactly when the new DST was decided.. anywho; a free update would be nice but atleast their giving discount on the nav disc in a week or two

If it's the white disc, version 4.62 won't work in TLs prior to 2007. Ver. 4.62 is used in 06 to 08 RLs and MDX 05-08. Check the Acura navi update site for the navi disc update for your TL. I should be orange in color. Ver 3.70 is the latest update for 04-06 TLs.

I sure wouldn't expect any software changes other than the DST fix. Normally what you're getting when you buy one of these is updated maps and POIs only. That's what they are selling. If you want a different looking Nav or more features, you gotta buy a new car!

With that said, I'm curious if there are any minor tweaks to the software that are noticeable, such as faster load times or better POI sorting. That sort of change wouldn't be as surprising to me. I just would never expect to pop the new disk in and see any big differences in the UI or entirely new stuff.

This may be a dumb question and to that I apologize in advance.... but are there any differences in the features for the Honda Navi DVDs and the Acura Navi DVDs? I have an 05 TL however my spash is for the Honda navi. anyone know where I could get a comparison of the features each provide?

Weird. You shouldn't be running the Honda navi unless someone performed the navi splash screen hack (and you're actually running the Acura navi).

The two systems are similar but they do have some minor differences. For instance, the trip computer is enabled by default on the Honda system whereas we have to hack to get it. The navi DVD actually contains both the Acura and Honda system files. Read the sticky thread on hacking the navi and try to reload your navi DVD. I think it's booting with the wrong files.

Does getting a new orange disc for a 04TL include all the map changes the white disc has? I was going to check out my neighborhood on a new TL....but unless the orange discs have the same database...what's the point? Also, the website seems to suggest that getting a new orange disc would include the new DST dates for the older cars...is that bullshit?

From what I read on the site is does look like they have corrected the DST issues with the new orange disk. With them discounting to $150 I might get this update although I got last year's update.

You'd spend $150 just to correct the car's clock being an hour off for 1 week twice a year?

Yeah its confusing to me too. I have the factory orange disc so it shouldnt be hacked (unless the guy before me was able to hack the original disk). Any idea what would cause the navi to load the wrong files?

I more than likely will hack the DVD so I can have all the options I want. however since Ive apparently never seen what the Acura options looks like, I didnt know what I would be losing by going Acura default.

So before reloading my Navi DVD, have any other idea some things that are omitted from the acura navi features? other than the trip computer, Ive heard options on the sound config such as subwoofer and etc. Anything else?

Does it fix the problem with HOV roads? The previous version eliminated many roads in Washington DC (e.g. Rt 66) in order to avoid directing drivers on roads that have part time HOV restrictions. Older versions worked - but the 2006 update did not.

I was hoping they would put an HOV flag so that you could say yes/no to HOV roads.

It also updates the maps and the POI database. The change for this year is not just the DST issue.
