I have had my new 2005 TL for almost 3 weeks now. As I am mastering the voice commands I have realized that none of the XM related voice command work. It is as if the voice control just does not know that the car has a XM radio in it. I am able to get all the other commands, even AM and FM ones to work just fine so I know it is not me.

Is there a setting that needs to changed in the NAVI for it to start recognizing XM commands? Anybody else seen something like this before?

 

That is odd, my TL and RL always recognized the commands. Perhaps disconnecting the battery to reset the system (warning: may require entry of navi and radio codes) will fix the problem. If not, I suggest a visit to your dealer.

 

Hey, I figured out the problem. I went in to the diagnostics screen and under the Navigation info menu option found that the destination was set to Canada instead of US and the XM box for red instead of green.
There was a button to change the destination to US. I clicked that and after asking for confirmation the setting chaned to US and the XM box turned green! And now my XM voice commands are working just fine.

Thanks to this forum I found out how to get to the diagnostics screen.

 

I wonder.. With the recent start-up of XM Canada, will canadian folks be able to simply "activate" their XM? (Not sure if the canadian models actually have NO xm, or if it's just shut off?)
