The first 3 months are free.. how come it seems like I'm only getting 4 channels?

Perhaps the dealer didn't activate your XM trial. Sounds like you are in the default preview mode.

The same thing happened to me....Just call XM and they'll tell you how to activate. Go to channel -0- (zero) and write down the code number that comes on, you'll need it to get started.

when your 3 month trial is over, you can get Xm for cheap if you want it...there is a post on here about getting it for 77 bucks for the whole year...

it'll save you money

enjoy your ride!!

LOL. That did come out a bit harsh

I'm just not impressed by XM or Sirius. The sound quality is not that good and the rock channels never play anything good. Maybe its just me?

No, you're not alone. If it wasn't for FOX and few other news/info channels, I'm not sure that "just the music" channels would keep me hanging on to it either.... As with anything, it seems great for a while, then,,,,, maybe not....

I got that 3 month free trial and I agree, it sucks. The only worth while channels are the news and ESPN radio. There isnt enough good music to make it worth while. AND the commercial breaks are SO long. When my trial is over I am done. If I could somehow order 1 channel and 1 channel only for $1 a month I would do that, other than that, nope.

Thumbs down I agree, it ain't so great.

I was very dissapointed with XM, I won't renew unless it is really cheap, I'm pretty sure $70+ bucks a year won't cut it. Ditto here about the sound quality. It is quite lousy- worse than FM in my opinion. I like the music on a few channels, but the quality is so poor (it just sounds really thin and weak) that I've just about given up on it and now carry a lot of cds and dvd-a along with me. I have been quite pleased with the sound from the dvd-a, it really is pretty kick-ass.

I would get XM for channel 150 alone (uncensored comedy). Not a good one to listen to with the kids in the car unless you want them to learn a bunch of new and interesting words.

So it's not my ears!!!
The sound is not at all what I expected to hear.
My mp3 discs played in the changer have much better sound...haven't tried my Creative mp3 player in there yet.
Did you guys try comparing different channels?
I do think some channels sound better than others.
It's odd, just when I think the channel is weak sounding, on comes a song that sounds wonderful...then another weak sounding one...lol
maybe its my ears after all
