Hello everybody. I purchased a 2005 TL non-Navi earlier today. When I press my XM button, it says XM1 and the channel is 01, but there is no preview. Moreover, it is my understanding that I have to put it on channel 0 to get the serial number, but the tuning knob does nothing, it stays on 01. The tuning knob works fine on the regular radio setting. Any idea what could be going on? I will turn it off and on with no result.

I tried the search function, and while I learned a lot, I did not find an answer to my question.

Regarding the tuning knob, check to make sure it's in channel mode. XM has so many channels that it's impractical simply to twirl the knob to go through the channels, so there are multiple ways to do it, including by channel category (eg, Rock, Pop, News, Sports, etc). I do not recall off the top of my head how to change this setting—I am posting on my phone and so can't easily pull up the manual online, too hard to read on this small screen—but you might try the "Disp/Mode button to see if it does the trick.

 

Thanks, for the reply. I had to call siriusxm to cancel the vehicle I just traded and i asked them about this. I gave them my VIN and they gave me the radio ID number. They then sent a signal, but I did not get it. I was not in the best location, so I figure I will call and ask them to send it again when I am in an open place.

Thanks again. I have some other things going on with the car (electronically) that I am concerned about, but I will try searching for them first as well.
