Question XM NavTraffic Not Working Anymore

I bought my TLS in late November and untill two days ago the XM Real Time Traffic function worked fine. All of a sudden on Monday it just stopped working. XM radio works fine and I have no signal problems. I tried resetting the traffic option in the navigation system and still no go. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm in the SoCal area.

I bought my Type-S in the same time period and ran into the same problem.

What gives?

I don't have the 2007, but I think the Real Time Traffic is a subscription service seperate from the XM service. Could it be that your trial has run out?

Same here. I'm going to the dealer to see what gives about this issue. I thought XM Radio/NavTraffic was supposed to be free for three months? Anyway, I'm going in at 4 so I'll let you know what happens. Having free traffic for only a month while getting free XM for three doesn't make much sense.

You are correct about NavTraffic being a separate subscription. I called XM today and they assured me that my trial subscription won't expire untill February 24-th.
They refreshed the signal to my car but still no go. Something else is going on.

I went to my local dealer this morning but they were clueless. They made me an appointment for next week. I confirmed with XM that both the radio and the NavTraffic are free for 90 days from the date of purchase. The refreshed the signal and asked me to tune to channel 1 for 10 minutes and then try the traffic function again, but that didn't work.
Let us know what your dealer says.

Does anyone know how much the XM traffic costs and whether the "zwinback" password applies to it as it does to the radio?

Never mind. I read the XM Part 3 thread and found out that the traffic is an additional $42 / year.

Don't have a scanner so I can't scan the invoice but I'll type out what it says.

"A check XM radio, states traffic link is not working, advice told to leave till 7pm states vechicle was purchased Nov 30-06, should still have 3 month free preview..advise"

Cause: "Found XM unit to be faulty special order part 51 Body Electrical - 51"

The service adviser pretty much said the XM receiver is faulty and they will be replacing it for me after they receive the part. No part number on the invoice, will let you know again once I get it replaced.

Thanks for the update. While I believe what your service adviser told you, it’s difficult to believe that all of us on this thread starting to have the same problems around the same time is just a coincidence. I am curious to see what they tell me when I go in next week.

Let me know how it goes. I'm supposed to get it fixed this week, once the part comes in.

Just as I thought it turned out to be an XM problem on their end. I called them again today for the third time and ran into someone nice who took the time to refresh the NavTraffic signal to my car. Ten minutes later after keeping it on channel 1 the NavTraffic functionality came back. Call them yourself and ask tem to refresh the signal and if that does not work tell them to do a deactivation-reactivation on the receiver.

Check the RL threads. This has been a problem with the new RLs.

Thanks, I looked at the RL threads and found this website: http://www.xmradio.com/refresh/index.xmc
Wish I knew about it before my three calls to the mostly incompetent XM customer service. My sugestion is anyone having NavTraffic problems go to the above website and refresh your signal before paying the dealer a visit.

I got the idea from this forum to refresh the XM signal, and lo and behold, the real time traffic function works.

Instead of calling those clowns, I went to XM's website and followed the instructions.
