Xbox 360 Install

Hellooooooo

i have an 07 TL with Nav, going to order Dom's plug and play, and i have an Xbox 360. I read the thread about the guy who installed an Xbox into his TL and used an inverter from the car battery to the Xbox. Just wondering if this setup would work for the 360? I am not to savvy on voltage and wattage and such.. so help would be much appreciated!

also, since it is an 07, should i just take the stereo cables from the 360 and plug them into the Aux-in in the center armrest (after converting the stereo cables of course)?

THANKS AGAIN!

sidenote, i am also installing an Alpine Type R 12" subwoofer with an MTX 801D amp. Is this a good setup for the TL, and should i go with a ported box?

XBOX 360 is such a power hog, and way overkill... that big ol block power supply + an inverter...
Why... No HD Resolution in the TL (shitty resolution actually), no dolby digital except through DVD-A, BIG, LOUD, POWER...

Sure it'll work, but it won't be clean.

PS2 slim fits in the glovebox, and you can buy a 12V power supply for it, no inverter needed. Plays DVDs just as well, etc...

wireless controls, can rip music and movies to hard drive, and i <3 halo...

yeah, putting a ps2 in would be a lot easier... might have to think this through some more.

maybe i will put in an SNES, those were sweet games.

oh, another question. I have a four channel MTX amp as well... would there be any benefit running this amp to the stock speakers...? i think it RMS 75W per channel.. not sure though? would it be difficult?

Logitech makes a wireless for PS2 slim... Halo 3 I get, but realistically, I've played video games in my car once, purely for show (parked, at a show of cource). It's just not practical. I have used the DVD player though.

If that's what you're looking for, go modded XBOX. It's a power hog too, but you can rip movies, all you MP3s, emulate nes, snes, ps1, mame, and whatever else you choose to download. My modded xbox is my multmedia entertainment center.

But PS2 more than suffices for DVD/gaming. My ipod does music, and my "mediaget 25p" does movies and photos.

this is the one time i disagree with kennedy... but it also happens that i have the 360 and love it. true the res isn't that great but it is a puny as screen so i can'r really tell anyway. i just happen to have more xbox360 games than i do ps2 or 3 so i went with the 360.

I think i did a pretty clean install. but what kennedy says about power is true. it is a power hog. i just mounted a switch/switches that enable me to cut all power to my tv tuner/ xbox/ amps and subs...

You're not allowed to disagree with me... Noone is... ahhh!.
Another reason i went Ps2 - $129 vs. $2-399
I just couldn't get passed the noise and the power inverter requirements

Hey listen, that looks nice.
- You need a black or chrome face for the 360.
- You need to extend that USB cable and hide it. (any USB cable will work). I had to do that so I could rock out extra hard with guitar hero...

- Couple of ergonomics questions... I image your switch control the power to the inverter, that's cool... but how do you turn the XBOX on? do you have to get out and go to the rear of the vehicle?

Gotta figure out if there's a hack like THIS for the 360:

http://www.xboxhackz.com/tutorials/h...emotePower.htm

Your homelink triggers the doorbell ringer, which utrns the XBOX on/off! No getting up if it's in the trunk... I had this on my ols Jetta, it was crazy. I may do it again if I ever get around to modding another XBOX.

Hey, what's that "via sattelite" thing there?

I have no problem with this for the PS2, as it's in the glovebox.

i use the wireless controllers now for the xbox. all you have to do is push the x on the controller and walla! power on. no getting in and out of the car. those pics are from when i first installed it and was using the wired controller to figure things out...

best of all my xbox is wireless. in my town i can play xbox online from the car with the local area network... badass!

I agree with the face.. i never thought of it but i like the idea.

the via sattelite is a local tv chanel.

now what i am really trying to figure out is mobiltv. they have a satellite feed now. the refresh rate isn't that good but it is true live tv via a cell signal...

sorry for the wait... i flew my folks in to town so i was kinda sidetracked...

i had it professionally installed so i am not the biggest help. i have an avelectronics nav interface. it allows up to four inputs for plug and play. it also comes with a tv tuner.

i know that you splice the module into the nav system in the trunk. this enables you to never take apart the dash.

although not the solution that i would recommend, i have a fm modulator sending my sound from the xbox/tv to my stereo. it works ok for the xbox but static on the tv channels is almost unbearable when you have the radio turned up..

i am running an invertor to power the xbox. it has its own switch so as to not drain power when you need it. i am sorry that i don't remember the size of the invertor. i knw that i went and picked it up at best buy. i also remember having to take back the first one i bought b/c it did not have enough juice to keep the 360 powered up.

sorry i couldn't be of more help.. at least you know it can be done. the guys who did my install took less than a day to do everything. labor (including making the box and rack) was about 1000 bucks. hope that helps a little

wow. that's pretty cool.

Seeing as my 360 just bricked (RROD caused by overheated GPU separating from mobo), I'd be very leery of putting one in the car. The 360 gets extremely hot, and it's extremely well ventilated sitting on top of my TV.

After putting the first carpc in my glovebox, I went through numerous case designs in an attempt to maximize cooling efficiency. I ended up with something that works incredibly well; however, I'm curious to know what your install guys did to cool that 360.

that is a good point. i should have mentioned that. i did nothing at first. on a warm day it shut itself off. i thought mine had "bricked" but it actually still worked...

i now leave the seatback passthrough open and i had a fan installed in the front of the inclosure that pulls cool air from the passenger compartment.

it gets pretty hot here. and my car is black.. since i installed the fan i have had no issues.

under the passenger seat. if you would like a picture, i can get one later. it doesnt look clean at all though.

does anyone have a picture of what the passenger area would look like with the seat removed? picture maybe..? maybe if i remove the seat i can hide the brick and inverter a bit better.
