would you put a ps3 in your car
almost ready to install dom's interface and pie x3. all i needed was a dvd player. so i thought about putting in my ps3 since i don't use it. it can serve as a dvd player and storage for my mp3. now the problem is i dont know where to mount it. any ideas would be great.

PS3 isn't too big. I test fitted one of mine under the driverside seat. If you don't lower the seat all the way it fits nicely under it. Also it's a nice location because there is an AC vent under there that would direct cool/cold air into the PS3 to keep it from overheating. The only downfall of installing a PS3 is that without HDMI the words would be too small and blurry to read on the Acura screen. So my decision was against this. I have 4 PS3's currently all 80gb. I have one that is the Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle unopened with the receipt.. I am selling it at cost if anyone missed getting one off Sony.com or at Bestbuy etc. PM me. If not then back to Bestbuy this baby goes!

I had my PS3 hooked up for a while..
Pros:
RF remote allows to mount the PS3 it anywhere
Awesome interface for movies/music/pictures
Can play DVD and Blu-ray movies (even if it downscales them).
Can access internet with WIFI hotspot.
Cons:
Movies/interface doesn't look that great with composite video, definitely watchable though.
Power hog, you need a big inverter to power the PS3.
Expensive
I ended up using an Archos 605Wifi to store music/movies and access internet through NAVI screen.

In the trunk, that's the beauty of the RF remote, you can put the PS3 anywhere and still control it. Then you can store tons of DVD's on it's hard drive. Video output on the Ipod touch sucks , no interface. The Archos 605 outputs the full interface on the video out.

Last time I checked the PS3 had bluetooth accessories not RF unless you bought a cheap aftermarket controller/keyboard for it. As for putting it int the trunk..I would never! Unless 1. You live in Antarctica or 2. Your trunk was air conditioned. It's because the PS3 needs flow through air and it's definitely not found in the trunk.

PS3 doesn't dissipate even close to the amount of heat that most car amplifiers do, a simple fan would keep it well within it's operating range.

true BT is RF but a superior RF.
And I don't know if I'd trust one of my precious PS3's to the Florida Heat..so IMO I wouldn't think it smart to place in the trunk.
