Wiring Remote Start to Factory Fob

While I have seen many post that they are using the factory fob to do remote start on their TL, I have not been able to locate an explanation of how it was done.

Does anyone have a wiring schematic of how they installed their remote start? If not the complete diagram, the most important piece, which is how it is being triggered. I have read three unlocks, lock/unlock/lock, and two locks as the fob buttons used to activate, but have no clue how people are doing it.

If anyone also knows how to extend the factory fob range, by potentially adding an antenna, that would be appreciated as well.

Thanks in advance for the assistance!

Steve

Check this one out:

You'll also need a bypass module to enable starting without the key in the car.

Myslef, I used a Viper 791 remote/security system, great range and very reliable.

Thanks for that link. That's great info on the 561T, but I'm looking for the information regarding the Acura side of the equation. I am considering the 791, but hate giving the dealership a reason to not service or warranty components on the car.

Thanks again.

I can appreciate your concern regarding aftermarket starters but my dealership told me this is what they install when a customer requests it, although they do send it our for installation.

Someone posted the manual on pdf here once, perhaps you can find it.

Good luck.

Most newer remote start systems have an "activation input" that can be set to watch for 1,2,or 3 pulses. Usually it is a negative trigger.

You would tie this wire to the unlock wires in the TL's door or kick panel, and then when you hit unlock 2 times, the remote start would engage.

The only thing you have to watch for, some cars the FOB won't work once the car is started, so you may be SOL if this is so.
