Why must XM be disconnected?

I am looking to get the AUX input for my '05 TL. Well all the adapters I am looking up are the same, so that is not confusing me, what is confusing me is the fact that all the units I see say that XM must be disconnected.

Why is that? I don't understand why that would matter.

Anyone know the answer?
