Why can't Ifind DVD-A Discs?

I have DVD-R discs, but ovbiosuly we don't want those. I looked at Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart, and CompUsa and no one seems to have the DVD-A discs. Any suggestions? Any sites to order them off of?

Thumbs up DVDA discs

Try Amazon.com, CDUniverse.com, DeepDiscount.com, MySimon.com, & Buy.com

That should work

Happy hunting!

Are you referring to media or the prerecorded discs? DVD-A is a hi-rez audio format and DVD-R, +R are blank media used for recording. Pre recorded discs can be found at those sites mentioned in the previous post. You use to DVD-R blank discs to create DVD-A discs using Adobeman's GUI app.

Other sources for prerecorded DVD-As include musicdirect.com and acousticsounds.com.

It's hard to find prerecorded discs in the stores because the format has never been successful with the market at large. People are more interested in listening to crappy-sounding compressed stuff downloaded from the Internet than they are in getting the best sound quality.

DVD-A disc are getting harder and harder to find. There is the Doors and Beatles box sets on DVD-A. Also another source is duel-discs, which are discs with the standard cd on one side and either DVD-A or DVD video on the other. Just check the disc carefully to make sure the DVD-A emblem is on the disc because there is only a few in this configuration. Search the threads for lists of these.

The Beatles' Love on DVD-A is WELL worth it. If you like the Beach Boys, I'd highly recommend Brian Wilson's Live at the Roxy Theatre on DVD-A as well.

Order them online from one of the various sites listed previously.

Thanks everyone for the responses. Since the problem has been solved, and we really don't need another DVD-A (recommendation) thread, I'm closing it.

More info on DVD-A can be found in 3G TL Audio & Electronics FAQ.
