Where is it?!

Whats up fellas, i've been surfing this website for about 3 months now and finally decided to make a user name. I am in the process of getting ready to buy myself an 07 TL. One question that i still have is is the upgraded nav ipod compatible?!?! I cant seem to find this answer anywhere. If it is does it also charge the ipod while you play your music over the radio.

Well i was reading that with the provided nav for the "upgraded" TL you can add programs to the Nav so that it becomes iPod compatible, but you are unable to use an onscreen interface for ipod navigation. Is this still the case?

I was almost thinking it might be better to just purchase a "base" TL and just add an aftermarket head unit, but i wonder how difficult it would be to install an after market HU to the TL dash...

I currently own a plug and play style car so HU removal was a breeze, im just new to the whole "luxury sedan" scene. So i dont know if the dash is set up any different. Meaning is it as easy to remove the stock headunit and then install an aftermarket one instead, or would it take extra measures to install an aftermarket unit.

LOL, i know lots of questions, i just want to make the right choice in this purchase. So i'm reading all kinds of threads to try and find some answers.

It is highly discouraged to go with an aftermarket HU on our cars. You'll also kick yourself if you get one without navi. You can get an aftermarket iPod adapter such as iSimple, DICE, or USASpec, for your iPod needs. These enable you to use your steering wheel controls to control the iPod as well.

Wait, WUT!?

Seriously, thanks for bringing this up. I thought the last iPod device that worked with the navi & wheel was long out of production.

i bought the isimple a little over a year ago from best buy and i love it! like mentioned above, you can use your steering wheel controls. the part i like about it is that you can also see the artist and song title on the navi screen.
