What happened when I called XM-Radio!

I called XM-Radio yesterday for their $60 year promo. Their denied me the special!! Here's why:
They said the special was for renewals only and since I bought the car used and the XM-Radio was not in my name first, then I did not qualify!!
Even though their website said : "Subscribe to XM for one year for only $60" it did not say RENEW!! I emailed them complaining and now they took the offer 3 and 4 from theyr website!!
CAN YOU BELEIVE THAT??

What do you guys think about that? False advertising??
Their website read:
1. Free Companion Air Fare!* (Save over $349)
Subscribe to XM for only $9.99 a month and when you fly, your companion's fare is FREE! Travel available in continental United States. No obligation - cancel your XM service at anytime.
2.Free Companion Cruise fare!** (Save up to $800)
Subscribe to XM for only $9.99 a month and Cruise the Caribbean, Mexican Riviera or the Alaskan Glacier, and when you cruise, your companion's fare is FREE! No obligation - cancel your XM service at anytime.
3.Save 50% on your XM Service
Subscribe to XM for one year for only $60. After your first year, the current basic yearly subscription rate applies. No obligation - cancel your XM service at anytime.
4.Save 40% on your XM Service
Subscribe to XM and get your first 3 months for only $5.99 a month. After your third month, the current basic monthly subscription rate applies. No obligation - cancel your XM service at anytime.

I'd try to register the radio in your name then call back. But I can see both points of view.

It does say...
Save 50% on your XM Service
highlight the word YOUR XM SERVICE. Technically it's not your XM service. The service belong to who ever had your car before you. Sorry to point that out.

But like I said I can see your point of view also. It's your car now. Ugh... technicalities.

Just bark and ask for a manager...you'll get it. Keep going up the chain. Anyone who's ever worked in customer service at a large call center will tell you the same. I just got it, btw, for that $60 as well. Great deal...

I called today - I had mailed them a check for $119.84 the other day, and told the guy I wanted to take advantage of the $60 promo. He said fine, and that they would cut me a check for the diff. No problems at all. I would call again and hope you get someone at their SD who gives a crap about customer service.

what i would do is call them, have your xm ID ready. give taht to them. and when they say if you are so and so. say no, i'm getting this for him or her for their bday and would like to pay for it with my ccard. so obviously the name woudln't match. that should work.

what you first do is call and switch the account into your name. when i first got the car it was registered wrong and i created an account on the internet. i called them and asked them to switch the account to the one that i had just created. you can then try to get the deal or just call back but now the account is in your name.

just got the $60 deal!

I just called and said I was calling for the $60 promotional deal that ends 8-31

The customer service rep said "uh let me check with my manager"

15 seconds later he was back and happy to take my info.

And get this: It starts after my trial period ends (just bought the car 8-21) so I get the 3 month trail (free) period then the promotional deal starts in November!

- no argument just fast service - took all of 2 minutes!

I say call now and do like I did - "calling for the $60 promotional deal that ends 8-31" so I think there u pretty have em not wanting to upset a potential new customer

yeah, just fight your way up the ladder, they will eventually cave when they come to terms with the fact that its YOUR car and not theirs...besides xm service is not a contract, so they cant deny you, cancel and sign up as a new customer :-D thats what i did

Wow, that is strange. I checked that same URL at about noon TODAY and it still showed all 4 options. I called them up and asked about signing up for a year at 50% off (I didn't even mention the website at all) and the rep knew exactly what I was talking about, and proceeded to sign me up with no issue. He did have to verify that it would start at the end of my 3 month trial period (which is at the end of October) and also stated that I would not actually be charged until then either.

Sure am glad I called when I did!

ha hows your fx? just wondering because after my tsx, about 6 weeks ago i bought the fx.... fighting under the lemon law now.... leaking water through sunroof for 6th time, gas tank doesnt fill past 3/4 for the 2nd time, radio shuts off every 60 minutes and doesnt start until car goes off and back on, interior lighting when your headlights are on dont work (for the radio and air control buttons), and the switch to move the headlights up and down doesnt work... oh yes did i mention they scratched the living hell out of my bumper and side 1/4 panel?

hopefully yours is good :-D if i win the lemon law case then im transferring the xm to the tl i will buy

Based on what I read on this site, I phoned XM. They told me there is no 50% discount promotion and it does not appear on their Web site...I checked and cannot find a reference. Where is it??? Thanks.

Hank ZHere's a picture of the offer that was sent in the mail http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showp...3&postcount=20

Just call them back, tell them you have it in writing, and no matter what they do to their web page, it is still in writing and they should honor it.

They called me Thursday night, after people said here they were having problems getting the 50% off deal, and asked if I wanted to sign up for any of the options 1-4.

So try again, ask for a manager, do what you have to do, but you can still get this deal.

Wow... I can't believe they pulled the last two options off their website. What, they couldn't stick it out for the last four days?

Oh well... They are still honoring it. I just signed up. My trial period ends on October 30th, and when I said I wanted to add the 50% off promotion, he said, "Okay, so you'd like to take advantage of our one year for $60 promotion?" Obviously, he knew exactly what the promotion was, and I had no problems whatsoever signing up. Took all of about two minutes.

I did verify that it wouldn't start until AFTER my trial period, and he assured me that it would start on October 30, 2004, and end on October 30, 2005. He also assured me that my credit card would not be charged until October 30th.

I got the deal last night ~10PM Central. It took all of 5-1/2 minutes to complete. The CSR on the other end was very friendly and gave me the $60/year offer without any hassle. He just needed my radio ID and I was good to go. My 3 month subscription runs out Nov. 11 and they will tack on the year after that. The best part of this is that they said they won't even bill me until Nov. 11th.

Isn't it nice to know that not all of the stupid, dense, incompetent customer service representatives work for the cable companies?

Make that call. The offer expires 31 August.

Thanks guys for the advice! I just called XM and got the promo. I had originally prepaid for 2 years but the CSR said she would credit my credit card with the difference and sign me up for the promo contract instead. It took all of 3 minutes.

I still have one month left in the 3 months promo price ($7 a month I think). The rep said he had to start the $60 promo today but will credit me for the 1 month I have left. No issue with the promo itself.

I called as I was reading this thread. The salesperson instantly canceled my 4month automatic billing, gave me credit toward the $60.00 yearly fee, changed my credit card billing to a different card, and I was off the phone in less than 5 minutes. Great service!!!

XM called me a few minutes ago and said my subscription had expired (really it didn't because after the trial period I never renewed), and would I like a full year for $60. They are still pushing this promotion, so make your calls.

Just got it. I had renewed back in early July - 2 years at $199. I read this original post when it started last week but decided not to bother since I had a two year plan already. Anyway, this past weekend I got a letter sayng my bill was overdue (I had given them a credit card when I called but I guess they never processed it). I tried yesterday but got nowhere. I called twice today with no luck but then I got inspired after reading this thread again and seeing everyone getting the promo.

So, I called again, was refused again but asked to speak to a supervisor. Well, what do you know? The rep cam back and said that while I was on hold an email came out saying they should honor the promo The only problem is that yesterday when I called they must have processed the previous plan and hit my card for the $200. Now after changing to the one year/$60 plan (+ $.33/day from when my trial expired in late July) now they owe me $130. Nothing like dealing with customer "service".

For anyone interested it's a great deal. Call while it lasts but be prepared to fight.

Wow

They will do it, but you do have to fight or at least I did. She said a lot of people are lying about getting that offer. I said he can I lie about looking at something you posted on your website. They so no you don't qualify because your free trail is still going. I said let me talk to someone else. She put me on hold and then came back and said okay we can renew you on that offer. the new year will start once your free trail has ended. Stick to your guns and I think you will get it but I would not wait to long.

I called this afternoon and advised that I wanted the 60 per year special. No pushback whatsoever, took my name, XM serial, and credit card information. Was absolutely painless.

It has been pulled from the website so I was expecting a kick back, but surprisingly did not receive one!

No problems here either, called this afternoon and got billing set up for the $60 offer. It was really hard to get through on the phone though... Had to call three times to finally connect.

I called XM last night and got the story that... "It was only for people who had canceled accounts and since your in a trial period you can't take up the offer." She said they just got a memo telling them this information. I complained a bit and told them why can't I just cancel my trial and start it up. She insisted said she could not do it.

So, I called today. And no problem. Looked up my account by phone number. The guy I talked to said " Sir, your trial period ends in November, would you like to start the year then?". Of course I said "yes, that would be great!". He then proceeded to set me up and added my email address information to my account so I would get confirmation of my order.

You guys have till the end of today to keep calling until someone helps you. Good luck.

Can't get much closer than this! 1008 pm eastern I called the XM service center and the girl was more than willing to take my $60. She told me that it would start after my 90 day trial was up. Took all of 5 minutes. I would have never know about this deal if it wasn't posted here--THANKS TO ALL
