What to do about moving sub box...

What are you all using to keep your boxes from sliding around in the trunk? Simple L brackets or something else? I don't really want to drill in the car unless I have to, and even then I want to make sure I don't drill into the gas tank or something.
Thanks!

Eas,y simple $1.00 fix. Buy 2 feet of 3/4" sticky back velcro. Cut into two one foot sections. Use the male end (hard plastic hooked end) and stick the two male pieces together back to back. Throw away the fuzzy, female side.

Place each one foot secton on the bottom side of the sub box about 3-4 inches from each end. Firmly push the box down into the carpet. Your box will not move, and you will not damage either carpet. I used this trick for 5 years in my CLS and never had a problem with a JL Audio dual 10" box...

Really?!? Thanks for the advice. I would have figured it wouldn't hold on a quick turn.

Nylon and Velcro Organizing Snake !!!

I used to have a Saab and these things are simply incredible. I have two of them that I kept and use in my TL. I also got lots of them, when at the Saab dealer, for other people who didn't have Saabs but wanted these after they saw them. Simply put it will not slide unless it is top heavy. And then you can actually use these things over the top of items to hold them down. I use them to hold all kinds of things. The only warning I will give is that they grip the carpet so much that it will can pull up a bit of the pile. One is set up permanentyl to keep a row of paper grocery bags put on the way home from the store. The other holds whatever I need whenever.

http://www.stateofnine.com/page/stat...elcroOrganizer You may be able to get them cheaper somewhere else. I used this link just to show them. I got my two (for much less) in 1995 and they are still going strong.

Oh, I totally forgot. I have the plastic tray liner in there so that won't work. Anything else?

Velcro is a good idea; but then again what if the sticky side loses it's adhesiveness? If you have a heavy box and you're a spirited driver you may need a tougher solution.

Certain places stock parts for subwoofer box builders. Why not try some circular rubber feet that screw into the box? put 4 of these mini feet into the bottom and your box should stay put. There will be rubber to rubber contact with your tray liner.

If you want the most foolproof solution then of course a brace/bracket is the way to go...but then you're introducing another possible "rattler" into your trunk. I would try a simple route 1st.

how about that anti-skid stuff (plastic mat with little holes) that you can buy at walmart for cabinets and such.

How about fastening some lumber (1X2 or some simple molding) right to the tray liner such that it forms a perimeter around the box. You can use short wood screws from the back side of the tray. All you have to lose is the price of the liner. That's a lot better than drilling into anything permanent like you were thinking before.

In a previous car, I cut some wooden spacers that fit exactly between the box and the nearest solid surfaces, such as rear shock towers/fenders and the rear deck. I then fastened them to the sub box such that it wedged into place without being able to move.

If you want to be ghetto, bungie cords seem to work well for others.

I put three eye bolts in the back of the sub enclosure and bungied it to the diagonal frame at the rear of the trunk. I have the trunk liner as well. I bungied a plastic container on the opposite side of the sub to stow an emergency kit and other essentials. I hooked the bungies in when I had the rear seat out but you should be able to hook them in without doing that.
