Hey guys, got the enclosure mounted. I'll post the pics up by tonight, pinky promise! And Ben, yes you can mount the liner back in the trunk. I just don't have it because I stripped my entire trunk. All you have to do is cut 4 slits in the felt (unnoticeable) for the brackets to poke through from.

Alright, here are some pics.

Please ignore the filthy car, and also that my rear trunk is partially gutted. That's not something required to mount this subwoofer upgrade, just something I choose to do for other means. =)

All brackets and installation hardware will be included. These will go up for pre-order by next week.

hmmmm... it looks oddly fitted? maybe it seems that way because you dont have the liner attached???

mike,
from the pictures, the subwoofer doesn't attach all the way up to the stock sub opening?

It doesn't. It's a "hanging" enclosure. There is about 1" of clearance between the box and the rear deck for clearance so the sub doesn't vibrate against the deck/liner.

It just looks off because the hangers are a little stretched. The production enclosure will look perfectly at home in the car, with the brackets all perpendicular and all. It also just looks weird because my trunk liner isn't on.

Just need to finalize on one last variable, and then the manufacture will have the pricing for us by first thing next week. They will be up for pre-order by then as well so hopefully it will be ready somewhere around Christmas time.

Sorry Mike for not putting this up earlier, it was definitely nice chatting with you, and by the way Clean your dam car!! LoL. Ok so now here is the Review:

This woofer definitely thumps, however don't expect it to be some JL system which is what Mike told us all anyways, so no biggie. The best way I would describe it is, its not considerably louder than the stock sub, however its considerably cleaner and precise in its frequencies than the stock sub making the overall stock system sound better and cleaner.

The bass produced does not drain out the other frequencies produced by the other stock speakers which is a really good thing. You can turn up the bass all the way and still maintain mids and highs from your stock speakers. It definitely does what its supposed to do. That is provide clean and precise bass that is a step up from our stock TL sub.

Slightly louder than stock, but more noticeable on its clean and precise Bass. Definitely an upgrade in the right direction

not sure if you have ever been in a bmw 5 series, but how do these compare "bass" wise? because the 5 series has some nice clean bass to their stock unit (not Harmon Kardon upgrade). the 5 series sounds like it has a sound system without the heart pounding thump of 2 12's.

im too lazy to make the drive to get a sound test :P

I wonder if the enclosure could be wider, yet shallower???

Thanks for more info!

hey everyone first of all I'm not the type to review..but this one is definitely worth the time.

A couple weeks ago I was driving and listening to music like always..and a question came up to me in my mind, "Why did Acura make such a nice car, but a mediocre sound system.." I'm sure you guys have always wished for a little bit more as well. Well it happened that Mike had the subwoofer upgrade in his car, and I had the opportunity to hear it in person. Before the first track was played, I already knew that ATLP creates high quality, well thought out products, and when that first thump occurred I knew that's exactly what CT-Engineering and ATLP had in mind. The quality of every bass kick blended perfectly with the stock speakers. Knowing, that I'd have to return to my stock setup, I didn't want to leave the car, the sound was exactly what I wanted out of the TL's sound system. Everything was there, crispness of notes, precision, and quality bass. Everything aimed for was exactly there in the sound. ATLP has done it again.

I will get you some pictures Monday. I have to put my rear seat back in so I can give you a reference to the sub height and the pass-through.

What do you think the price will be?
I'm aiming to keep the price under $350.

A couple weeks ago I was driving...

Can any of you guys help me out? I cannot see any pic's on this post, I checked my settings and didn't see anything that might be blocking my view.

I will definitely order one of these too, what a great mod to polish this car out, very cool.

Hey,

I'm not sure how wide the skis are but there is still a very moderate amount of space left. I've attached a picture of a lawn chair through the port, and you still have a good 3-4 inches as long as you have them at a slight slope.

Hmmm... I'll have to check, but I fear that it is too much of a compromise to the pass-thru opening. I wonder if I could mount the enclosure up, touching the underside of the rear deck to gain an inch or two?

Hey guys! I just want to ask if I can install JL audio subwofer without any replacement of factory AMPLIFIER? The sub that I'm looking for is "JL AUDIO SUBWOOFER 8" SUB 100W 8w08".... And how better the quality of the bass be after installing this sub in the factory spot? thx

I searched the forum and found many others asking this question, too. I had asked the local car audio shop the same thing. They said that this speaker is efficient enough to be driven safely by the stock amp, but... this speaker is not for open air installation (the stock setup). Thus, you would have to modify the rear deck or position it in an enclosure elsewhere in the trunk, leaving the hole for the stock sub empty as a "port" to the cabin.

and to answer that question about the 5-series BMW sound system, its the logic7 system they use and yes very crisp in sound and quality, hopefully this upgrade will make our system sound like the 5-series
