This is still in very early stages, non-finished. We are still tuning it, and testing out different adjustments on this subwoofers. Pricing will also be available once everything is finalized.
For the enclosure finish, it won't be like that. Almost the whole system will look different, besides the box sizing. The height of the box is only a little over 5 inches tall, so it's pretty slim !
Anyway, I'm waiting on them to finish up the revised version of the speaker, and then it goes back in the car for more fine tuning. ETA 1.5 weeks. If you are local, you are more than welcomed to come by and take a listen. Location either Orange, CA, or San Fernando Valley.

Hmmm maybe I read something wrong somewhere I was under the impression that the subwoofer you were creating was a drop in to where the stock subwoofer went. So that I understand this there is a sub box for this sub?
Edit this sub/box combo will bolt up to exactly what underneath the rear decklid?

Sorry to be such a hard ars....but, I'm not clear on the fine tuning part for the sub.
Is the goal to be a direct substitute for the stock sub? Therefore it will play from stock hu and amp? Clearly it isn't a free air set-up and it looks bigger then 8''s...is it?
The main issue with swapping the stock sub has been having a sealed enclosure. If you've created an innovative sealed enclosure, then there are some high quality "thin" subs that can be dropped in...no tuning required..
Anyway, interesting project, just seems like a long way around to a straight forward solution. I'm sure I'm missing something...
As I said before, you exhaust set-up is incredible....good luck with this project

The goal originally was going to be a drop in sub, a woofer that would replace the factory unit. Finding the right sizing and free air sub was easy, but having it sound good was hard. Basically as you mentioned the factory location is greatly flawed due to it's porous deck layout eventually making this into a lot more than a simple "drop in".
Instead, we decided to go with a setup that will still work 100% with the factory headunit without modifications. So it will not need an aftermarket amp, or any power wires/rca wires running through the car, and work with all the factory controls. Only two wires are required which is the positive and negative that attach to the factory woofer in the back, and that simply clips off.
Tuning is left to the professionals at CDT to figure out, but as far as Dave at CDT was describing involves tuning different QTS and VAS values, the sensitivity of the driver, and cone material used. This in brief changes the way the sub sounds in detail (sq and spl-wise). I want this to blend in the factory setup, and not drown everything else out and sound out of place.
I just tell him what I want it to sound like, and he goes over the technical aspects of it. PM me and I can give you his contact so that way he can explain to you in case you are interested.

It will be mounted underneath the rear deck, where the factory woofer is, but in the trunk.

Sorry for the skepticism/questions....when looking at high end subs, there are those made specifically for sq and others made for spl. In turn, the sub enclosure spec's vary depending on the desired end result, smaller for sq, larger (sometimes ported) for spl.
CDT is a great company and produce some great products, many of which are not cheap, however are very well respected and worth the price
I just wouldn't put that kind of time and money into adding something to a basic stock system. You are adding a decent sub system to lower grade tweets and mids. I don't remember the output of the stock amp, isn't it around 50 or 100?
I look at it this way, if I am looking for a better meal experience, i don't have a glass of Dom with my big mac and fries
As you can see by my avatar, I am a bit of an audio nut. I have no idea what I'm talking about...but, if the quality of this is on par with your exhaust and it is priced right, I'm sure you'll have another winner
I may take you up on connecting with CDT, I love car audio and I;m sure I'd learn a thing or two talking to him.

Sounds good! I'm not sure if you were at the meet or not, but if your local or in the area, feel free to stop by and take a listen. Of course it's not an audiophile SQ setup, but for the price we're aiming at and the ease of install...I believe it will deliver.
The stock amp I believe was 50 watts, not sure if that's peak or RMS, BUT...it actually does not sound bad at all... =)
