Weird issue with the navi screen today

Today I stopped for gas, and when I restarted the car, the navi screen was extremely dim.

It showed the moving map just fine (although super-dim), but the touchscreen was inop. I have Angrydad's OK button bypass installed.

I turned the car off and restarted it, and now all is well. Anyone else have this problem?

did you turn the headlights on or off??? if so, the headlight switch has a feture so when the gauges are set 1 under max, when the headlights are on, it will dim the lights, but when off, return them to a normal state.

Was it cold outside? Mine seems to do this when it is cold.

Maybe that was it...it was cold, and the car sat for about a week without being driven before this incident. All is fine now!

If you use the auto off headlights when you park the car, when you return and restart the car the screen stays dimmed, even if you turn the headlights off to get the dash to go to full brightness. The nav screen will "catch up" when the system boots.

When it's cold, my NAVI screen is dim until the car gets warmer. Then it gets brighter. It makes me think there's a fluorescent light inside it, because they take awhile to get bright when it's 40-degrees or below. (That's why most compact fluorescent lights say on them, Not for emergency lighting)

Luckily the dash lights (probably white LEDs) and the HIDs work better than that!

The first few times this happened to me, I thought it was the bright-dim thing (MAX button not pressed while headlights on). It's really hard to see on a cold sunny day with sunglasses on.

You can try running the heater on BI-level to run some hot air passed the screen, instead of auto which seems to run thru the defroster/windshield.

Liquid Crystal Displays tend to show dim at first in colder weather.

I have a 38" Sony LCD tv outside under my patio and when its cold outside, its takes about 3 or 4 minutes for it to show at full brightness, but never when during warmer weather.

My navi screen tends to do the same anytime under 50 degrees or so.

It is the cold

It is an LCD issue. It happens on all of the LCD's in my vehicles. You can also see it if you ever leave a PDA or laptop in a car overnight in the winter.

I have the same issue when it is cold outside the display is dim and I can barely see it. I doubt it is suppose to be this way even if it is a LCD.
