Which way do your subs face?
Just curious. Have many people tried firing the sub in different directions to see if there is much difference. Currently, I have mine firing to the back (toward the trunk, but I might flip it and see how it sounds firing toward the seat. Big thing is that I want to be able to put things back there and I don't want the sub exposed (and I don't want to buy a grille.

My sub is facing up with the 2 port holes facing the back.. sounds pretty nice that way but it is all up to you...
If you want to have stuff in your trunk make them face the seats so you won't mess them up

2002 Acura CL type S. I have two 12" subs facing the rear of the car. I tried facing them toward the seat. And facing up. But I got the best sound with them facing the rear. The one problem I do have is the trunk rattling. I thought about getting the rear of the car dyna-mated. but I just havent got around to it.

I have done numerous expermiments with this.
First of all there's a difference of how you setup in your trunk. In a car with fold down seats or a ski pass I like to keep it all open. I found that with it like this far less power is needed to make it sound good. Others like to keep it sealed and allow the trunk to act like a secondary "box". You need some serious power to hear it. (And a lot of Dynomat). It's more of a muffled base that will vibrate through the car. It's the kind of bass people will hear you from blocks away.
As for direction I have heard people swear by putting it different ways. Facing it forward sounds good to some. Bass as we know is indirect though. 80% of it comes from the back of the speaker not the front. By facing it backwards the sound will bounce off the trunk and sound better to others. It has a subtle reverberant effect. You need some serious sound deadening near the trunk latch/license plate though. I've never heard a great system with subs facing up.
My most favorite combo? Nobody agrees with me really but I love it this way...I face mine forwards but NOT up against the seat. I push it way back till the back of the box touches the trunk opening. With the ski pass/folded seats open you get this more resonant boomy bass. I'm no audiologist for sure but it seems to me that the bass gets to bounce a bit more this way. Not everyone is into this sound but that's what I like. Really dont listen to anyone who says it's GOT to be a certain way. You got to try different combos to see what you like, everyone's ears are different.
