w7 is above the w6v2. If you can afford it and have the power for it, go for it.

Components...what's your budget??

Seriously contemplating making a template for noobs...

I've had both. The W7 is a superior sub. Advantages of the w6v2 are costs less, less air space required, less power needed. If none of those 3 are concerns, w7 is the way to go.

Fully agreed. I owned a pair of 12W6s for 8 years and loved them but the W7 does everything the W6 does but better. They both sound amazing in IB (just couldn't help myself).

If you have the money, go with a W7. Another option is the W6v3. It has a little more excursion than the v2 and doesn't cost much more. I haven't heard one yet but it's supposed to sound better and get a little louder. It might be a nice "in between" in both price and performance from the W6v2 and W7.

One thing about speakers and power, more headroom is always better. Get a sub that has a ton of output capability even if you don't need it. Turn the power down to get the level you want and it will have less distortion than a sub that's operated near it's limit. Same with amps, get more power than you will ever need and you will have a dynamic, clean system.

As for components, much of it is personal preference. My all time favorite is Dynaudio. The Esotecs are great but the Esotars are amazing. I have no problem recommending these to people because they're so neutral. They don't have the typical bright or dull sound. They just sound amazingly realistic and life-like and they will take a ton of power and sound great doing it. They do vocals unlike anything I've ever heard. It will sound like you have the singer in the car with you, not coming out of a speaker. They can be pricey but you will never want to upgrade. Jerry (niebur3) on here is an awesome dealer. He also sells many other great brands but I would talk to him even if the retail price scares you, he can probably work with you.

I live in Lancaster C.A. and I was wondering if you do your own stereo work of if you have a local shop that you use I just picked up a TL and it seems that you have alot of stereo knowledge when it comes to the TL design an I'm about to start audio modding. Thanks

See if you can live with the amount of trunk space that a W7 will require.

I just want some bass. My only concern is the shaking and rattling I don't want to dynamat too much? Or none if possible. I hate rattles!

Thanks yall

For rattles, you will need to spend an hour or so on the rear deck - this will be true regardless of which sub you get. Put 4 screws in your license plate.

You don't need to Dynamat anything if you don't want to. My 2006 has the same sub setup as the 2004 without any deadening in the trunk and the only difference that I can tell is that they 2004 has more weight in the rear end.

I would not buy an XD if you have a slash. If you have neither, then I would recommend the XD over the power-hungry slash, but any good quality Class D amp will do for either sub.

Probably not worth upgrading, the Slash amps are really nice. Only if you need the space and I've read the HDs are a little more efficient but I don't know that anyone has proven it.

I'm reserving my opinion on the HDs for the front stage. I'm very pleased with them but lately I've been having mixed emotions. Probably a processor issue but I need to look into it some more.

Sorry I did not see this sooner. I do my own work but it's not pretty like most people's work. I just don't have the time and I'm a procrastinator. I would be glad to help you out if I can. You're welcome to hear mine if it helps. There's a meet in Anaheim every 2-3 months which has nearly every high end brand represented, it's especially good for people choosing which equipment to buy. Each install is done correctly and optimized so you can really see what the equipment is capable of. I'm still being held back by my processor, I've got to get a different one soon.

No know what you mean about not having enough time. I just picked up a sub and amp from the black market here it's a JLW6V2 with a 500/1 JL amp with a custom box for the side of the trunk for the TL I hope she bumps just a little. I'm going to use a LOC for power

The JL Slash amps will take line level inputs through the RCAs. You don't need a LOC and I recommend that you don't use one.

You should be able to hit 125-130ish dbs with the single 12 with the corner and trunk gain in our cars. It will bump more than a little. It will bump enough to do permanent hearing damage if you bump it too loud for too long.

I hope that the box is big enough for the W6 if it is a sealed box.
