Informal poll:
Do you use the male voice or the female voice for the feedback or guidance voices in your car, and why?

 

The military did a study on this a while back for the voice commands on fighter jets and they discovered that men tend to listen better to a female's voice than a male's voice and vice versa for women. Honestly, I've never put much thought into it but I think the female voice just sounds better to me. Now that I think about it, that could be why KITT sounded gay to me all those times when I was a kid. "We can't jump that bridge Michaaaaael!!!"

 

I use the female voice...just makes sense. And I agree with the KITT comment! LOL

 

I also use Female voice prompt, found it more easier to listen to, and perhaps it's because most Navi in Europe are also using Female voice prompt. Therefore, I guess I'm used to female voice prompt. Besides sounds better, now, I hope I could import more voice like in TomTom.

 

Do listen to a female voice in mine too.

 

Female voice-- I'm male, but married and thus used to being told where to go by women.

 

LOL, at least the TL does not nag you about taking out the trash or want to talk about the relationship with 2 minutes left in the game.

Honestly, I'm not sure I've heard the male voice before. When I upgrade my navi DVD, I might play around with it.

I found the male voice to provide less feedback and sounded calmer to me. The factory default is the female but once I tried the male I stuck with it. It's just not a sexy female voice but if I could do it that'd be AWESOME! Try it, the male voice to me seems to not be oversampled as much.

 

the female voice sounds like a real b*tch, especially the bluetooth phone voice.

 

As far as I know, new NAVI DVD has remove male voice...

My friend's CL65 has the option of a female with english accent. Now that's sexy!

We discovered it right before we picked some girls up. They thought we were weird because we kept making her talk.

As far as I know, European Cars sold in the US comes with UK English accent, just like if you were in Europe... When I drove Audi, VW, Benz and BWM in Germany, and all of them has UK accent... And apparently no US accent... that was back in 2003, 2004, and 2005.

Female. If it's going to give you directions with which you don't always agree or can't always comply and then insist that you make a U-turn (if possible) to go its way, it has to be a female voice.

I use the male voice, I tried using the female voice and I just couldn't take it...she kinda sounds like one of those chicks that are just trying to be nice but you know they are just acting fake!! Don't like it!

With a predominantly male demographic, I expected the female voice to be the winner in this one. I too, use the female voice.

I use the females' voice. One day wifey will call while it's giving me directions and she'll assume I have a chick in the car with me ha ha!! Just like the commercial!!!
