Viper 5301 with CANMAX400DEI (Help)

Doing an install on my 08 TL S with Viper 5301 and Canmax400DEI (Dockable). This is information I was able to gather from Acurazine, the12volt.com, viper installation manual and other misc. sites. The most helpful was the Viper 5901 installation post on here.
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-audio-bluetooth-electronics-navigation-94/very-detailed-install-viper-5901-remote-start-706816/
The big difference is with the 5901 has a (H3)10-pin connector and the 5301 has a (H3) 8-pin connector, it says that there are 2 wires which needs to be connected to the starter wire in series, with the 5301, there is only 1 wire that can be connected to the starter so do I just jump it right onto the starter wire?

The other big difference is I am using a Canmax400DEI which seems to be a popular and pretty simple to use being that it can be docked into the Viper unit. There aren’t too many wires to connect other than the CAN and DATA wires. My question with this is do I use the CAN LOW and CAN HIGH wires or just the CAN single wire? Right now I plan on using the single CAN wire, could someone please confirm this.
Also I’m not sure if the Security light needs to be connected to the Canmax.
Lastly in the 5901 install Remote start auxiliary output, pin 5 was connected to the PKH34, so does that need to be connected to the Canmax or is it already getting this information?

Hope someone can clear some of these things for me, I’m hoping to do the installation this weekend, below is the wiring that I have come up with so far.

Primary harness (H1), 12-pin connector,
H1/2, RED, (+)12v CONSTANT INPUT, H3/5 [RED], 12 VOLT CONSTANT

Sorry, got your PM but forgot about it over the holidays. I have to run a few errands but I'll take a look at this tonight. Can you do me a favor and post a link to the 5301 installation manual?

No problem, I was planning on putting it on here anyways as I didn't find much for the 5301 and Canmax together. Hope this helps others as well looking to do this.
2009 Edition - http://static.zoovy.com/merchant/goo...009_09_web.pdf
2008 Edition - On the12volt.com download section, couldn't figure out how to post the link directly to the file.

OK, got a late start, so only going to do the H1 harness tonight. I highly recommend you purchase the Electrical Troubleshooting Manual before starting this project or buy an online account at helminc.com (3 days for $10).

FYI, in case you didn't have one, here's a link to TL wiring info:

http://64.85.6.121/diagrams/diagram....6&link=BULLDOG

H1 harness

2 to +12v constant
3 to green/yellow horn wire (at steering column or C302, pin 19, see below)
5 to ground
11 to parking light wire (if you want p lights on when remote started). it doesn't say, but I assume this is a negative lead. be careful, there are + and - parking light wires. The negative wire is red/black on pin#7 of 12-pin connector on right side of steering column.

That's it for H1 (not really sure about H1/7.....)

Thanks nfnsquared, keep em coming, also do I need to connect remote start input pin 3, brake status? (I have it in there now but if I don't need to I won't connect it) According to the canmax documentation brake status is on the CAN network and is being retrieved by the canmax.

Just wanted to make a quick comment, I am using the 2008 manual wiring, in 2009 Viper has (H2) 18-pin connector, which is a combination of H2 7-pin, remote start input 5-pin connector and remote start auxiliary output 5-pin connector and 1 empty pin. Just wanted to make sure there is no confusion.

No, shouldn't need that one for an automatic trans...

Just the single can wire.

^^^That is correct, exactly as indicated in the CANMAX manual for Honda/Acura "A" install procedures.

What is the color of the security light and where is it located.
I was going through the circuit diagram and looks like it a WHITE/RED and under the dash fuse/relay box(which one?).

Are you not looking at the CANMAX installation manual?

I don't remember what color it is, but it's the wire coming from pin #5 in the 7-pin connector in the steering column..

Edit: According to the ETS manual, it's blu/orn. And the 7-pin connector is green.

^^^^and to clarify, the "security light" they are referring to is not the light in the driver's door.

It's the immobilizer system indicator (the green key that displays on the dash).

Happy New Year All......now to get down to business, didn't get time to do the install this weekend but was able to do some research. The wire colors for the security light and data are different in the 07-08 than 04-06.

Security Light - Red/Blue (04-06) / Yellow (07-08)
Data Bus - Blue/Orange (04-06) / Orange (07-08)
Door Data - Same for all years

Hmmm...Well, a couple of things: First, I'm kind of surprised that there would be a difference in wiring color schemes within 3G year models. Second, I'm not sure what source you're using for your data, but it's wrong for the 04 security light wire colors (see below). I'd double check your source because it could also be wrong for the 08 data as well....

I found this information on the idatalink website, which I understand is a similar module to the canmax400.

http://www.idatalink.com/search/index/model/5178

I am looking at the ADS-DLSL-HA product, if you look at the guide for it on page three is where this information can be found.

OK, that chart is correct for 04. You just got the two 04 colors reversed (security light and data bus) when you posted them.

I think I have everything, hopefully the installation will go smoothly. Regarding H1/7 here is what the manual says --------> "This optional input can be wired to the factory horn honk output of the vehicle. When this wire receives an input for a minimum of .5 seconds, the system reports a trigger on the remote. This is useful on vehicles that have a factory security system, it notifies the owner that the system was triggered."

Last question, I don't plan on connecting the defogger anytime soon so do I still need to connect the H2 harness? The only wire I would be using is the ground wire. Also since it is a automatic I don't need to connect the tach(i think).

H2/1, LIGHT GREEN/BLACK, (-) 200mA FACTORY ALARM DISARM OUTPUT
H2/2, ORANGE, (-) 200mA AUX 4 OUTPUT
H2/3, GREEN/WHITE, (-) 200mA FACTORY ALARM ARM OUTPUT
H2/4, VIOLET/BLACK, (-) 200mA AUX 2 OUTPUT
H2/5, WHITE/BLACK, (-) 200mA AUX 3 OUTPUT
H2/6, WHITE/VIOLET, (-) 200mA AUX 1 OUTPUT
H2/7, GRAY/BLACK, (-) DIESEL WAIT TO START INPUT
H2/8, , EMPTY
H2/9, VIOLET/WHITE, TACHOMETER INPUT
H2/10, DARK BLUE, (-) 200mA STATUS OUTPUT
H2/11, PINK/WHITE, (-) 200mA FLEX RELAY CONTROL OUTPUT
H2/12, ORANGE, (-) 200mA ACCESSORY OUTPUT
H2/13, PURPLE, (-) 200mA STARTER OUTPUT
H2/14, PINK, (-) 200mA IGNITION 1 OUTPUT
H2/15, GRAY, (-) HOOD PIN SWITCH INPUT N/O or N/C
H2/16, BLUE/WHITE, (-) 200 mA 2ND STATUS/REAR DEFOGGER OUTPUT
H2/17, BROWN, (+) BRAKE SHUTDOWN INPUT
H2/18, BLACK/WHITE, (-) NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH INPUT

Yes, you still have to connect it because H2/18 needs to send a ground signal to the unit.

You don't need to connect the tach wire, but all the pros over at the12volt don't like the virtual tach feature. They think it's unreliable. Now remember, they are intent on not having a customer come back, so they fail toward the sure thing and connect the tach wire anyhow.

You can leave it unconnected and see how you like Virtual Tach (if you elect to do this, I would leave the h2/9 wire loose and where you can easily access it if you decide later on to connect it).

On the other hand, it's very easy to access one of the tach wires going into the ECU without having to go through the firewall. I posted the 04 tach wire info in the 5901 thread (the colors may be different, but I'd guess the pins are the same??):

Did the installation last weekend and everything went great. Using the virtual tach for now cuz I couldn't find the connector with the wires on it. Seems to be working pretty well so far. Also didn't connect the parking light cuz I couldn't find that connector either(Is it more toward the center console but the left most side. I left those wires loose just in case I want to connect them later on.

Tach wires are on ECM connector E, any wire pin 15-20 (for 2004 TL). Below center dash near firewall:
