Smile A video showing everyone why you need the navigation option..Add ons!!

I finally hooked up my I-simple controller with the aux inputs for my Sat radio and dvd player. Here is a video showing all the aftermarket things you can hook up to it.

I hope the people who are contemplating a factory navigation get to see just what we can do to it.

I have a Peripheral PXMAG unit, Nav-2-Go with a dvd player and aftermarket backup cam.

Enjoy!!!

I'm going to need to consider this modification simply for the iPod itself. The DVD option is cool as well, but probably something I wouldn't use. Nice work!

i have a non nav 6spd and nothing about your setup impressed me, how often are you riding around with 4 people in your car watching movies at 33 years old?......

NOW, if you were an 18 year old kid this might be cool,,,

maybe it's me,, anything i-whatever is junk to me, tv's in the headrests when did the tl become an SUV? , to each his own, spend your money how you like it. maybe you'll impress yourself

Yeah I know......It's a song that happened to be in the I-pod at the time of the demo. I think 50 or as I like to call him half a buck has a great talent, with some hard words. Did anyone tell you it's 2009?

Any car with or without the navigation.

It is a very simple mod that should be done if you have an I-pod. The sound is great!

Wow dude, where did you come from? Yes I am 33.......with a kid!!!! Get it? The TV's in the back are for him and his friends. I bought the nav-2-go unit for the backup camera and installed that. I thought, I could also add a dvd unit so I could listen to mp3's and so my son could watch movies on my many, many road trips. The DVD player cost me 40 dollars and install was done by me......Headrest monitors cost 40 dollars....installed by me. So I have under 100 dollars sitting in the back that keeps the kids happy. Do you know the cost of that?!?! Priceless.

I am not trying to impress anyone, just give people info on what can be done with our cars....kind of what this form is all about.

First of all, awesome set up! This is exactly what these forums are about, but there's always gonna be somebody that'll have something negative to say. Even if you had no kids, what you do with your money is all up to you. We're all different and some people need to start realizing that. There is no right or wrong way to customize your ride.

do these tv's and custom hacking into the navigation add resale value to your car? the answer is no, it decreases,, that's why i don't understand mods that will cost you MORE to revert back to stock,, yea it may have cost you 100 bucks but who cares,, you just decreased the value of your car by thousands. look up the cost of new headrests, in your matching color,, you will be unhappy.

the OP did the mods to his headrests/DVD's for the benefit of his kids. didn't he say that? he probably could care less about resale value as he drives 20-30k miles a year.

^^^ I guess you just don't learn from your mistakes or maybe there is something wrong with you. Think before you type son....think. Advice of the day.....If you don't know what you are talking about, don't say anything....The Nav-2-go is a plug and play setup. No "hacking" into my navigation system. When I sell the car, I can take it out and get at least 50% of the value back. I own my own embroidery business and have people in the upholstry business that can repair my so called damage as you say.

Dude, relax and admit that you are a little out of line here. From the looks of your past posts, that looks like a long shot. I own my car...paid in full, has been since I bought it so if I want to drive my wife's Lexus over it, I will.

GGSESQ, thanks and yes I bought thew car to drive not look at. Unfortunately it's more like 60-70k a year but who's counting?

I wish I could do the things to my TL that you've done to yours. I'm just looking at your signature and shaking my head as to all the awesome things you and Bearcat have done to your cars. Congrats my friend...fantastic job.

Seems like you have a problem with math as well. Headrests are so expensive, how am I going to afford all the decreased value in my car?

Steven thanks brother.....Yeah, you get a nice shot of my ugly ass in the window. It's all fun when you do the mods yourself. It's no fun paying someone else to do them for ya. I think you need to do a road trip to NC this summer. Lunch is on me and maybe we can do the embroidery on the headrests for you. I haven't forgotten about ya!

It's a crap Audiovox. Does the job and having the remote is nice to control the mp3 discs.

I can't change the way the world goes round. I can only keep up with the times and try to make sense of it. Do what you can and try not to worry about things that are out of your control. We are one in a trillion.

Did you have any trouble getting to the back of the HU? Any tips you can give for installing the harness?

^^ No need to even take the radio out. Take the left panel off the side of your center stack and the outer harness on the left of the radio is the one you need to unplug and plug the new harness into.
There is no need to take the radio out. Just a few of the interior panels. Good luck. Search this site as others have had pictures of the install. Can be installed in less than an hour.

Thanks and yes, I have been dealing with a cold since before x-mas. I think it's almost gone.

The nav-2-go unit plugs into the back of the alpine dvd unit in the trunk. You don't need to remove anything other then the trunk liner. It really is an easy setup and the back up camera is so useful for me. The car is lowered and has the a-spec kit so when I park, I back into the spots so I don't damage the front lip. A must have for our cars.

That is a great option to keep kids quiet in the back seat on road trips. Though i remember when i was a kid riding in the back of the family station wagon i sure enjoyed seeing the landscapes of America.

Personally i don't have a need or want for navigation or dvd player in my car, but yours looks nice, thanks for sharing.

Awesome job mmade22 <~~~ though it should be 33... LoL.. j/k. I just recently starting doing my video conversion for my iPhone integration on my navi. Got the Dom, rear camera, and video with ipod function to play but I dont have the track name and stuff like you have done which is awesome! I just need to get the rear monitors put in when the weather gets better. No DVD player yet, still debating, right now all audio, video off of my iphone, along with you tube... LoL.

And as far as Liquidflex goes, he is just spewing pure jealousy, my guess is he doesnt have Navi, people like him really spoil it for the rest of us here. Having opinions is cool, and when you want to share them, do so in a less offensive manner is my opinion. And if he was so worried about resale value and depreciation, he should ride a bike, everyone knows that a car is the biggest depreciating asset money can buy... so he needs to chill out.

Anyways good job bro!

You got the most important option in the car....the 6-speed. I was having a hard time finding a 6-speed with nav so I was looking into a carputer install. It is a very cool thing to have so you did it the right way.

I remember that like it was yesterday. I come from a family of EIGHT brothers and sisters who use to go on many road trips. It was a 1979 Ford Econoline van for us with vinyl seats and no air conditioning. The road trips were brutal at times but I sure loved to see what this great country had to offer. I agree with you but my how the times have changed. The kids have no idea how good they got it.

Elegant you are the man I really love the mods you have done to your car. Look at all the thousands of dollars your car has depreciated by doing them.....lol.

Eric, Alex has been asking me all week when you are coming over. I did my transmission fluid yesterday and it came out cleaner than it went in. I am amazed since it had 50k on the fluid.

Check it out for yourself.....Gotta love GM Synchromesh.

Nice demo! I am definitely picking up the isimple or PXAMG once the new cabling comes out.

Nice setup man I love it! I have the i-simple/peripheral right now but I want to add the doms with the dvd player as well as a backup cam in the future.

you posted a video of your hacked up interior,, do you think everyone on this board was/is going to like it?

don't like my opinion? oh well lol who are you to me i don't care , you take the good , you take the bad, that's the facts of life haha

far far far from jealous elegant type s, next galaxy far...

171 for new headrests.. correct me if i'm wrong,, your still losing money here... and re selling the dvd monitors, plug and play stuff, your never gonna see your money back on that in 2 years,, heck in 6 months the electronics in the headrests will be obsolete, you'll be takin a ride back to circuit city soon i'm sure...

but hey who cares i'm a jealous non navi tl driver remember?
Who puts on less than 10k miles a year on his ride,,, i appriciate the value of my car very much, this is why i don't do the things i see on youtube to my car. Cutting headrests, drilling holes in my center console for a switch, ack the thought of it makes me cringe.
