A VERRRY nice feature of the V710
Since everyone's been griping about the V710 (even though we know ya love it!), I thought I'd add a note about something that it does right.
Note: I didn't have this functionality on my Sony / Ericsson (T610 or T608) phones, from what I saw ... see what happened below.
So, I'm driving along and listening to some 'tunes on my XM Radio. All of the sudden, I decide to call my gal about a date we've got set up later that evening. Instead of using the flakey Voice Obfuscation system of the 04TL HFL, I use the excellent and impressive speaker-independant Voice Recognition of the V710. After the V710 indicates "Connecting", I simply hit the "Talk/Command" button of the HFL, and Presto! - the V710 instantly transfers the call to the HFL. I don't have to even say a word for the call to transfer.
On my T610 and T608, I had to issue the "Transfer" HFL vocal command to have this happen. However, if the person receiving the phone call hadn't picked up yet when the transfer completed, the HFL would switch the call back to the T610/T608 when they picked up the phone.
Good job, Motorola!

.....another feature, on the navi, search for a destination and note that the system recognizes that you have a paired cellphone and places a "call" button on the page with the address/telephone number. Push the HFL button (not the Phone button) on the steering wheel and simply say "call" and you're connected.

I personally never had good luck with the Voice Dial on the T608 - it's recognition was as bad as my V60 and the Acura HFL, so I didn't use it very much. Otherwise, I would have probably found this out myself later ... Good catch!
Phone transfer between V710 and TL
Just got my TL and a V710. Would like to find an easier way to get phone names/numbers from 710 to TL. Noticed GotJazz's post about using voice recognition of 710, but voice recognition doesn't come up on the phone when linked to a bluetooth device (ie: Speaker input is not available during "say a command"), so not sure how to use this feature?
Even if I try and use the Phonebook listings and hit send, the only way I can get the TL to take over the call is to press the Phone/Talk button and issue a verbal "transfer" command. This doesn't seem to work consistently and seems to have a fair amount of delay.
Would be interested to see how GotJazz was able to just press the Phone/Talk button on the TL and have it instantly transfer, cause when I do this, I simply get the "Main" indicator in the MID?

I can't use the V710s (very, very good) voice dialing once I get in the TL. The phone's microphone appears to be disabled and the TL won't open an audio path to the phone until a call is connected.
I also can't transfer a call dialed with the keypad without saying "transfer."
How exactly did you do what you described above?

I'm sorry ... In retrospect, it now appears that this may have been a fluke. I no longer own the V710 that this worked on. My newer V710's Voice Recognition is also disabled once the Acura establishes a Bluetooth link to the V710.
I can only attribute it to flakeyness with the ealrier Motorola V710 firmware, I'm afraid.
However, my newer V710 will sometimes automatically go to HFL mode if I maually select and dial someone from my "Contacts" list ... but only if I have already made a HFL call on the phone and the car has not been shut off. I think this may have something to do with the V710 "Car Settings" option for "Auto Handsfree" connection in the user settings.
Cheers!

I was happy to stumble across your post regarding the HFL automatically picking up and dialing someone from "Contacts" list without having to issue a "Transfer" command.
At first, this feature was a little sporadic, but I think that I may have isolated a way to replicate this consistently. It appears for now that as long as the phone is set to vibrate, the HFL system will pick up the call w/o transfer.
There is however one exception that I noted. The first time that I try to initiate a call, the HFL system appears to try the transfer but hiccups for one second.
All subsequent calls after that initial try pick up seemlessly.
I will update everyone if I run into any more problems, otherwise let me know if this works for you.
