Verizon - V710 cost

My sales rep is quoting me $369 w/ a 1 year term and $319 with a 2 year term (both with $70 rebate).

This seems REALLY high to me....anyone paying less through their sales rep?

V710 and 2 year agreement

My final price for the MotoV710 from Verizon was $173.00 which included an allowance for an upgrade of $100 plus the $70.00 rebate.

I got an "early upgrade" and paid $319 for the phone with a two year contract minus the $70 rebate for a final cost of $249.

Mine was $149, but I had the New every 2 $100 discount through Verizon. Without that, it was the $249

I paid the $319 with 2 Year agreement, $249 + Tax after MIR of $70. The phone will eventually come down in price, but I wouldn't hold your breath, could be a while and by then Nokia will have their blue tooth phone out for Verizon.

do those that have the V710 think it's a worthwhile phone (ie: good upgrade from a non-Bluetooth phone)?

I'm concerned based on past experience, but have heard good things about the V600

I wouldn't have bothered upgrading from my T720 if it weren't for the BlueTooth capability. Although the V710's sound and reception quality are slightly better than that of the T720, it wasn't worth the cost for those reasons. Additionally, the camera is useless other than for the most casual photos and I don't particularly need MP3/Video/Photo capability in a phone.

If you're going to take advantage of the HFL then it IS worthwhile, and it's the only game in town if you're a Verizon customer.

I agree, would not have bothered except that I wanted Bluetooth. I don't use phone all that much but wnated to take advantage of HFL, I mean what is the sense of having toys if you can't play with them right?

Love V710 and quality is much better than cheapo phone I was using.

As far as pricing answering original poster. I paid retail $419 at Verizon since was only 14 months into contract. Not eligigable for new in two and new contract required a 49.95 plan and I wanted to stay with my 39.95 plan. I have sent in the rebate for $70 although I get multiple choice answers on whether or not you get that without a new contract. If I get rebate I will consider V710 at $349 okay, if not over priced but still worth it from my own personal point of view. Great phone and how it pairs with HFL is great. I am hoping that firmware upgrade eventually allows it to also report signal and battery strength. Signal strength if nothing else would be very helpful while driving in unknown coverage areas.

The V710 was a definate improvement for me. I went from a 2 year old Freebie Kyocera that came with my plan to this phone, so it was a HUGE jump. I'd say if you are happy with your current phone, and only want this phone due to bluetooth. I'd wait. Yes, the bluetooth is awesome, and I like customization capabilities of the phone, but like I mentioned these are leaps and bounds from where I was. Plus, I got the New Every 2 which decreased the cost by $100. If you only want it for bluetooth, there will be more phones coming out soon enough. I'd wait for them to be released. They will probably integrate with the TL better (signal strength and battery indicator), you'll have a choice of which options suit you better, and you may even get the New every 2 discount. However, if you talk on the phone in the car a lot, you may not want to wait. It depends on how badly you want it. I'd suggest going to Verizon and seeing if they'd pair one to your car for you so you can try it out. If they really want to make the sale, they may go for this.

As for the camera, don't expect it to be the quality of an actual digital camera. It is only for convenience purposes if you see something you want a pic of but don't actually have a camera on you. If you think of it like that, you should have no problem with the camera installed in the V710. It was never supposed to replace an actual camera with more megapixels and an optical zoom. If they had incorporated that this phone would be closer to $700, and HUGE.

I just bought my V710 from Verizon online. I got a $70 discount for purchasing and a $100 credit for their "renew every two" plan since I had my previous phone for 4 years!

Here's the breakdown:

$319.99 online price
- $70.00 online discount
- $100 renew every two
================
$149.99 - what I paid

Yes I think that is the price for 2 yr contract. Even I'm offerred the same price but am waiting to make a decision. I'm gonna wait till X'mas to find if better phones are coming and then will decide. Also, am waiting for what SE phones will be released with Cingular after T637.

Yes, I renewed my contract for 2 years. With a 1 year, it would have been more expensive.

To followup on my original post. Despite Verizon store advising that they didn't think I was entitled to the rebate ( made no sense to me ) since I didn't renew my contract, I sent in rebate form anyway. Recieved my check for $70 in mail today, very fast I might add. So that answered the final cost question for my situation anyway, $349 and I don't regret a nickel of it. I remain extrememly happy with the phone.

I just paid full retail for mine $440 (with tax) this past weekend.. but the $70 mail in rebate I will send in soon, on top of a $50 credit to my account I recieved. I called and complained about my previous phone (slider s7 kycoera). The display kept messing up so the day I went to purchase my v710 (and my new TL) I called up verizon to see if they would do anything for me.

I see on the Verizon web site the cost is $369! The $70 rebate only applies if you get a 2 year contract. Pretty steep deal when you can get a T637 for free.......

I was just looking on their website and noticed something.

They have a "one time activation fee" which in and of itself is not weird. What I find disturbing is its only $15 if you sign up for a 2 year plan but its $35 if you only sign up for a 1yr plan. The actual activation of the phone and getting you into their computer system obviously isnt any different between a 1yr and a 2yr.

When I got my TL in April, I had just lost my phone so even though I don't use it much, I needed to buy one and the best out as far as phone deal and monthly service was T-mobile. I got the phone for $20 after rebates and pay $30/month with no roaming fees. The service is so-so.

I probably will check into going with Verizon and buy the V710 when my 1 yr contract is over with t-mobile. Hopefully by then - April 2005 - the price has gone down. I don't want to pay that kinda price for a phone.

That's incorrect as I already stated, the $70 rebate can be received without a new contract. The rebate form merely asks for your mobile phone number and states phone must be activated. Phone is activated, I have all ready received my rebate check and I did not sign up for a new contract as I am 13 months into current contract.

I was still under contract and had them activate phone at Verizon store, there was no charge. Phone was bought at store fo course. There was a charge $10 or some such to transfer my old phones phonebook, I laughed and told the guy he must be nuts, he said no problem would waive the charge.

Through my Verizon rep. (not a relative of any kind) He quoted me $80 and then came the $20 mail-in rebate.
