Valentine 1 or Escort 8500 x50

I have read posts and watched videos about both radars. I have heard that the V1 have more false alarms then the escort 8500 x50. I have also seen the V1 pick up the radar gun before the Escort does. So i really don't know what I should get. Can someone that has both or one of these radars, please tell me which one is better to get. I know a lot of people are probably just going to say, "V1 is the best", but why is it the best? Why is it so much better then the escort 8500 x50?

I have had a V1 in my windshield for at least 15 years now. Never had anything else, and don't feel the need to try the Escort. The V1 is that good.

my buddy's friend had both, many frequent trips, 1hr+ trip in 45 min. 5hr+ trip in around 3 and a half.

He also preferred the V1

I have an 8500 and it saved me many times. If you really want arrows then go with the V1. I would just save money and get another mod like pullies or a cai if you dont have one.

LOL, this is definitely a religious war thread. I've had both, I've had a escort 8500 and currently have a V1. Both are great, neither will save you if you're doing 100mph in a 55 zone.

The V1 does false a lot, but I'd rather have a false alarm then no alarm. Every radar detector I've had (and I've had many since 1972) give false alarms.

It only has to save you a couple of times to pay for itself.

The arrows on the V1 are nice, it's nice to know what direction the threat is coming from, but you can't go wrong with either.
