V710 Owners sue Verizon over Bluetooth

Verizon customers in California have sued them over the disabling of many of the v710 features. They want Verizon to activate a number of the fetures that require people to use the network for, such as transferring pictures.

According to C|NET news, Michael Kelly, the Kirtland & Packard lawyer who filed the suit, said his clients expected Verizon to provide all the Bluetooth features Motorola includes in its v710 products.

But since Verizon Wireless doesn't enable Bluetooth for uses such as photograph transfers between the v710 phone and other gadgets, the lawsuit claims it is forcing users to use its network for functions that would be free on Bluetooth.

"Our allegation is that it's probably more than a coincidence that the functions that are disabled can be replaced by Verizon functions for which you pay extra," Kelly said. He wants class-action status for the suit, which was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court.

I wonder if there is any chance Verizon will add functionality to their phones.

they wont win... verizon didnt say (from my knowledge) that they would allow full functionality... while i support their cause... i think it is a battle that is a waste of time...

i do believe that verizon should have the decency to give their customers what they want....

Is it just me, or does that fall into the "Two wrongs don't make a right" category? While I certainly don't condone the aguably shady business practices of Verizon Wireless; doing stuff like this simply results (eventually) in the company raising rates for legitimate users.

It's one thing to find a way around using their services. It's another to actually use their services and not pay. If you don't like how they do business, go with someone else, or take them to court. Don't fight injustice with injustice.

NFLblize, I'm sorry, I have to agree with the other two commentors... all it does is raise prices for everybody else. We all know verizon is overcharging, but howardforums.com has other ways to get these files and put them on your phone for free or cheaper without stealing.

Yes, we all want the best deals out there, but don't scam them.
