Question V710 Battery Life

How does the 710's battery life seem to you? I just got mine and seem to be recharging it every other day. I know it must use more power when the bluetooth is on when I'm in the TL, but that's only two hours a day at the most. I'm beginning to think something may be wrong with the phone.

I'm thinking about getting an extended battery and see if that helps any.

Mine seems to be OK on the whole, although I don't talk on the phone very much. You are correct that using Bluetooth does sap the power more quickly. I have a car charger for mine, but I try not to use it unless I have to because I found out that it's a quick charger, i.e., using it doesn't give it a full charge that it will hold for any length of time. I don't wind up using my regular charger very often, though, so I guess the battery life is OK.

One thing you might try is turning off the Bluetooth whenever you take the phone out of the car (if you don't already do this). Search the forum for "Bluetooth" and "macro." There have been a couple of threads about how to create macros for turning Bluetooth on and off.

As much as I've heard bad about the battery life, I've been pleased so far. I don't talk all that much either, and I'm in the car maybe an hour a day... But I'll go a couple days without charging...

The important thing to realize is that a cell phone battery lasts about 1 year on average... If you get a new battery every 12-14 months... You'll be happy. It's just a maintenance thing... Just like changin oil...

Sounds like it's about what I should expect. I have a car charger on order, maybe I'll get the extended battery too.

1995hoo, thanks for the tip to look for the macro. That really simplifies things.

Here's the procedure for turning BT "OFF" and "ON". It was posted by a member in a earlier thread and copied it for future ref.
1. Menu
2. 7 - Setup
3. * - Connection
4. 1 - Bluetooth Link
5. Setup (Select)
6. Power (Change)
7. Scroll down to "Off"
8. Hold then Menu button down and create a shortcut...I used "1"

Follow the same steps as above (1 through 6) and then:

7. Scroll down to "On"
8 Hold the Menu button down and create a shortcut...I used "2"

Henceforth, "OK" + 1 turns Bluetooth off in a single step
"OK" + 2 turns Bluetooth on in a single step.
