V600 in new TL doesn't transfer incoming calls.
I purchased my TL's about 1 month ago and went to Cingular last Sunday [7/11/04] and picked up the V600. Before I left the Cingular store I made sure the phone paired with the TL [it did] and made outgoing calls [it did]. I could not test incoming calls because I transfered my Verizon number to Cingular and it was not active for receiving calls yet.
So, I'm thinking all is well and I'm a happy camper. Alas, not so. Incoming calls arrive at the car and ring in the car but pushing the talk button gets you nothing. The call is not transferred to the TL.
So I get on the phone with the Acura hands free link help line [1-888-528-7876] and they tell me "its a known problem with the V600." But there is a solution, they say, and here's the e-mail they sent me.
Dear Customer,
This email is a follow up to our previous phone conversations regarding the Motorola V600 software fix. The new version you need to get loaded onto your phone is: TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.44R. We understand this has passed verification and should be available through your carrier. Please check with your carrier to ensure they have the update available as the roll out may be slower than anticipated.
Thank you for your patience with this matter.
So, I call Cingular tech. support and they call Motorola and we have a 3 way conversation. Motorola says they haven't been notified about the new software and it is nowhere available.
I ask, what's happening with the Acura? The Motorola person does some homework [Cingular is on the line with me and Motorola and was very helpful] and says Motorola is still working on the fix for the TL. :shit:
So we hang up with Motorola and the Cingular person can't believe what they just heard. Neither can I. So the Cingular person calls the local store and the local sales person on my behalf [leaves a voice message-that's the norm I'm finding] to return the V600 and exchange for a Sony Ericcson T637 [which othere posts on this board indicates does work in the TL]. So, I'm off to the Cingular store tomorrow [in Silver Spring, MD] to see if this exchange goes smoothly.
After this experience it appears the V600 is just not ready for prime time with the TL.

I just leave the phone open in the centre console plugged into the car charger. I have not missed transferring a call since.
I would be nice to keep the clamshell slosed, but it isn't really a problem since I leave the phone in the centre console anyway.

Well I went back to Cingular and exchanged the V600 for the SE T637. The 637 paired with both my TL's and they both transfer incoming calls from the phone to the TL automatically. Added bonus: The 637 has a battery indicator in the MID but, since I have the Navi option, the only thing that shows up in the top center display is a phone icon.
I do have some issues with the T637 on automatically connecting with the TL when you show up at the car [doesn't do it you have to go through the phone menu to "connect" to "my devices"] but I'll post this seperately.

I have a V600 (TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.2FR_A1) on Cingular and went to the local Cingular store a few weeks ago to address the firmware (incoming calls get transferred to the phone) and short battery life. The technician said my software is the latest version but replaced the phone since it was within 30 days of purchase.
The new phone has the same firmware and the same problem with incoming calls. I have tried numerous time with every combination of setting and clamshell opened or closed but the calls always go to the phone. The only thing that works is to press Talk, let the call go to the phone, press Talk again and say "Transfer" which sends the call back to the TL. Of course that's a pain and the caller may have hung up.
Several people have talked about loading the firmware themselves but have also said you can ruin the phone so I keep waiting for someone to say Cingular has officially started supporting the new firmware.
Has anybody gotten Cingular to load the new firmware?

Hi all,
Well this thread is bringing to light the problem with the V600. Calling the Acura owners link help line and we're told we can get 44R at our carrier and it will solve the incoming call transfer problem with the phone. Someone else says 45R will do it. Then you go to the carrier [i.e. Cingular for me] and they don't have any clue as to whats up. They even call Motorola for me and Motorola doesn't have a clue. All this from a phone on the approved list of phones that work
.
My feeling was I bought the car to drive and I bought the phone to use in the car. The phone was on the approved Acura list and, as the user, it should work w/o problems. So I buy the phone and it doesn't work. As the end user I say this is pure BS :shit: and I don't want the hassle. I dump the V600 for a phone that does work [an not on the approved list, SE T637]. We, as the users of a simple cell phone, shouldn't be caught up in worring about software upgrades to make the phone work with the car.
Sorry about the ranting but I just was venting

You will need the Motorola USB Cable as well.
Does anyone know if t-mobile has an update or if any of the listed upgrades work with t-mobile? I called t-mobile and no surprise they had no clue what I was talking about.
HFL guys told me they have not released the update flash and have no timeline on when t-mo will release it.
Moto has a nice phone, but I think I am going to have to return it and go back to my sony 610.

I got a reply similar to Jim Kirk, however, I find it odd that the email that came to him said the software fix passed verification and should be available through your carrier. The reason I find it odd - almost verbatim, I got the same email, but, instead of saying it passed verification and should be available, it said that it is still being tested by the service providers and they don't know when the service providers will complete their testing.
My V-600 from ATT worked fine right out of the box. It took me less than 5 minutes to do the set-p and although the MID doesn't show battery strength, the phone works perfectly..clam shell closed. It's a great phone and pairs fine with the TL with no extra firmware mods or any other "tricks" I had a SE bluetooth phone, and it also paired well, but the reception and ergonomics of the phone were terrible.
