I searched all over and couldn't find this specific answer to Q#1 below, so help is appreciated. I want to add an aftermarket amp to power a new front stage component system in my '06 non-nav. I would like to continue using the factory amp for rear fill and the factory sub.

#1 - Can I just take the preamp front speaker inputs from the HU and use these as input into the aftermarket amp to power the front stage?

#2 - I'd like to confirm that I'm getting a "flat/non-crossed-over" signal out of the HU? Hoping to avoid the cost of the Cleansweep type of processors.

THANKS!!!

I am currently running my jl audio 300/4 amp after the stock amp, i just set it as a high level input so it isnt maxed out at half volume. the jl amp can be used for both, you can set the front and rear stages to either be both high level, low level, or one of each. So one set can come from after the stock amp the other from before the stock amp.

Depends on the input level requirements on your new amp. I supose you could crank the volume on the HU to make the input voltage you need, and attenuate the stock amp using the HU fader. You might try an LOC before the new amp as well, to "balance" the two amps output levels at given HU volume. Hope you see what I'm trying to describe

Yes, you can do #1. I am under the impression that #2 is true as well, except the sub output is NOT full range. There are charts and output graphs of the HU on this site (somewhere...)

Can't help with #1 but for #2 I think others have confirmed the HU has a curve. Not sure I'd call it crossed over (rolled off) but more like compensated (dips and peaks to compensate for stock drivers).

I did some digging - these old threads seem to show the HU does do some EQ, so forget my previous answer.
