Urgent Help Needed! Setting up Foglights

I am trying to set up a set of foglights that can be turned on or off by a switch and obviously the switch should be placed inside the car, but I can't find a hole that I can get the wires thru from the hood to the interior. So, what option do I have? This set of foglights doesn't come with instructions... only a simple wiring guide and drilling a hole is not what I wish to do.

I have to put the bumper back up coz I am also doing other stuff and I need to drive tomorrow. So PLEASE tell me what I can do.

Thanks Thanks and more Thanks

Go under the hood, you should be able to find a hole that goes through the interior. The hole is cover by black rubber. It's located on the back of your tape deck, so go look under the hood around the area. It's very obviousl, I found it very easy.

I think I found where you are talking about but after I have removed the plastic cover, all I could see was sponge... how did you get a wire in there? And how where from the interior did you get the wire out from? I can't imagine taking out the whole deck for a wire...
Thanks for the info

Shouldnt be that hard to find a hole in the firewall, I would go out and look for you but im pretty sick. I suggest putting the switch in the un-ocupied panel next to the VSA button.

It's very simple. Just push through the sponge and you should be able to bring the cable inside. You'll be able to see the car that you push through on the other side of firewall. Use a flashlights and crawl under driver's side dashboards. Hope this helps.

Btw, why do you have to remove your bumper? I don't even remove my bumper to install my aftermarket foglights.

Thanks, I integrated the foglights with the stock foglights and they work fine now.

Also, I removed the bumper because I was clearing the headlights, cutting the lower grills and replacing them with black mesh and painting the horizontal bar in the upper grill.

Since you integrated your aftermarket foglights with stock foglights, can they work independently? Our stock foglights can only work when the headlights are on.

Can you post picture of your car? I've been thinking to clear my headlights, but I have installed 3M light protection on my headlights and I figure it will melt/burnt when I try to bake my headlights. I also want to paint the housing black or perhaps smoke the headlights.
How hard was it to take off the bumper and clear out your headlights. Thanks in advance.

Just cleared my headlights yesterday and i too have 3M on it. At 200 degrees, it won't melt, so you're safe.

I haven't taken any pics yet, but I will do that tomorrow or the day after. Btw, am I allowed to have a link to a cardomain page? so that I don't have to upload the pics twice.

To make things more clear, that set of "foglights" isn't really foglights but is a PiAA Deno3 looking white/blue led lights. I bought them from ebay. The white and blue leds can be lit independently. What I did was I integrated the white by using add-a-circuit in the under-hood fuse box with the relay control module (fuse no.2, second one from the bottom, right column, 30A) and the blue with the right headlight's high/low solenoid (fuse no.5, fifth one from the bottom, right column, 7.5A) Fuse no.2 is on only when the car is on so whenever the car is on, the white leds are on. And, when I flashes the stock fogs, I will have both blue and white on.

Just another note, I have a Canadian model and I am not totally sure if there's any difference in the fuses layout...

For clearing the headlights, I didn't use the oven but instead used a heatgun. The headlights won't open up as easily but that's very ideal in my case... my oven is SOOO dirty you won't want to put a headlight unit in... anyways, that's also ideal for you if you are worried about your 3M, coz you are not blowing heat air to the 3M but to the silicon glue.

It was a PAIN (at least to me it was) to remove the bumper with the aspec kit. There are two extra screws (i think it was two) and the bumper lip will be in the way when you try to take the lower grills out.

Hope these help

Thanks guys! I guess I'll give that a shot one of this weekend. I think I'm gonna use used boxes and towel on top of it so it won't scratch my bumper. I can't wait to do this project.

aikkennykia,

I actually have aftermarket foglight. Each side has two lights. I choose blue lights for driving lights and yellow for fog lights because I changed my stock foglight's bulb with yellow bulbs. I bought them from midnightmoose I think. They are almost pure yellow just like IS300 foglights. I have independent swith inside my car, so I can turn on whichever light I want. I'm still trying to figure it out how to make our stock foglights independent, but nobody has figured it out yet. As for the model, we are two different model Canadian vs. USA, so i'm not sure how canadian DRL works.

05TLTony,

Can you write something about your front grill, it looks really nice.

I'll post some picture after I clear out my headlights.

Thanks!

Hey guys, it's SUPER foggy in Vancouver and I am unable to to take good pics without the flashes. So here is the link and please forgive for the bad pics. Likely I can take better pics when the weather changes. Go to page 2 for the painted horizontal grill, the black mesh, the led lights and the cleared headlights.

Thanks.

Your car is definitely hot! I love those rims, how much did you get them for? If you get a chance, please take couple picture of your front grill, I can't really see it. Thanks.

Thanks. I was going to paint it gunmetal color, but I couldn't find it at local store so I used charcoal metallic and coated with clear coat to add the shine. I also bought "Bond Aid" to increase the bond of paint and plastic materials. I wet sanded the piece and sprayed couple coat of band aid and let it dry for 30 minutes or so.
I was going to paint the front grill also but I figured this type of paint didn't have a duralibility near to proffesional and you have a higher probability getting rocks in the front. I decided not to do it because I didn't want to see lots of paint chips on my front grills.
I'm going to add mesh tho. I probably paint them black to get black and white theme.
