Upgrading iSimple to NavTool in '05 TL...no "Aux" input@stereo--how do you connect?
I'm looking at upgrading my ipod solution for my 05 TL. Currently, I have the iSimple PXAMG adapter, that connects in-line from the XM tuner. It reads the iPod, gets artist name and track name, and feeds the digital data directly into the stereo. It imitates the XM functionality...I have to set the stereo to XM, and I get digital sound and track name/artist name. It works great.
After years of this, I now want to add a backup camera. iSimple has no solution for video switching...just the iPod audio solution I currently have.
I'm looking at buying this the NavTool 3.0 adapter.
As I understand it, I'll have remove the iSimple gateway in favor of this adapter.
The video switching is handled by interface, but the audio you have to connect to the "Aux" input of the factory stereo. Both the '04 and the '05 doesn't have Aux. It only has AM/FM, CD, XM. This Navtool interface doesn't seem smart like the iSimple adaptor to do the same trick of fooling the stereo into thinking it's playing XM.
How do you connect the audio into the factory stereo....that has no AUX input?
How is the rest of the Acura community connecting this in their '04 and '05s?
It says the 04 and 05 are supported, despite neither car having AUX.
Anyone have any recommendation? Thank you!!!

You can use Navtool and iSimple, they are unrelated.
Navtool hooks up to the trunk DVD drive and the iSimple hooks up to the radio.
iSimple has two inputs - iPod and 3.5mm AUX.
NavTool has two inputs - VIDEO 1 and VIDEO 2,
Video 1 is reserved for backup camera and video 2 you can attach anything such as a DVD player.
You hook up the DVD player's video cable to the VIDEO 2 on the navtool and then you hook up the DVD player's audio cable to the 3.5mm AUX from the iSimple.

Thank you
Thank you to you both. I suspected as much, or at least I hoped that would be the case, and I'm delighted to hear from two different people that that is the case.
I get it installed this week and am looking forward to it.
Thank you again both of you
