Uh oh...

I've been looking at dedicated midranges all day haha. Is it better to have midranges in the a-pillars or down in the kicks? I would think the a-pillar location would really bring the stage up but who knows. I'm seeing that you can pick up some 3" midranges for next to nothing! Doing the a-pillars would be super risky as I've never used fiberglass or done anything like that. Would this be worth it due to the fact that I wouldn't have any time alignment for one of the 3 speaker sets (tweeters, midrange, midbass)??

I will say that it will depend on which drivers you are using and how well they perform on and off axis to determine if you want them in the apillars or kicks. I have the utopia be's in the a pillars.

Did you make the a-pillars?? Any pics...please! I'll search too just to see after I make this post but if you dont have any here you should post some up

It seems like people over at DIYMA like the Tang Band TC9, Peerless ***86 3.5", Hybrid L3, or Hertz HL70. The first 2 can be had for super cheap...like cheaper than dinner lol. The H-Audio and Hertz aren't all that expensive either! I wish I would have know more about audio before I jumped in or I would have started with a nicer 2 or 3 way.

I would just say to calm down, take a few breaths and keep it 2 way. You don't have enough processing for 3 ways. You're talking about pretty much trashing the system you *just* put in.

A dome will perform very well off axis. If you only have so many channels of TA, put the mids in the kicks and TA the mids and midbasses. The tweeters don't have to have TA.

My mids sound like they're coming from the dash and they're in the kicks. I've run the mids and tweeters on the passives and covered the tweeters during the time alignment portion so just the mids are time aligned and you can't tell a difference in stage.

If you want the Dyns, the price is not firm. You can run it easily up to 6k which will really make your tweeters sound better.

That's car audio for an impatient person lol. I see something I want to try...and I've got to have it! Not a good thing sometimes

3-ways are very easy. Mine sounded great running off of just 2 channels and the supplied passives. I've honestly never had any trouble with anything due to it being a 3-way vs 2-way.

I understand. I get the same way sometimes, but being married and accountable to someone else curbs that a bit.

I'm not even active yet 'cause I don't think I can explain needing another amp.
