Two Leviathans or one Lev and a Dreadnought?
I actually spent way too much time last night thinking about this.
The number one goal is a two amp solution to my setup. I don't want 3 or 4 amps.
I should probably start out with the number of channels I'm running....
I have the Dyn 342 set so it's 2 4ohm midbasses, 2 8ohm mids, 2 8ohm tweeters. I'm not too concerned about the 8ohm mids because those are being replaced with 4ohm Esotar mids eventually.
One 4 ohm Massive Sk-6 center 2-way comp set.
Two 4ohm subs that have a thermal limit of 500w each but require well under 200w for loud listening.
There are 9 speakers total but I count the subs as one since likely they will be run mono off of one channel
I want head room, tons of headroom. The Dyns I'm told will take 300w thermally with ease. I've heard of people giving them quite a bit more than that and since I like to high pass mine around 95hz, there should be no problems at that power level. I rarely crank it up very high but the higher power seems to really help with dynamics.
The Esotar mids will take over 200w rms and the tweeters will take 100w
The Leviathan is rated as follows:
1Lev, 1Dread
2x225 on the MB
2x225 on the mid
2x150 on the tweeters
1x150 on the center
1x600w for both subs. That's cutting it pretty close on the minimum power for the subs.
1 Lev, 1 Dread
225 mids
225 center
400 sub
150 tweeters
300 MB
2 Levs
300 on the MB
300 on the mid
150 on the tweeters
150 on the center
300 on the subs, probably not enough.
1 Lev, 1 Dread
800 subs
225 MB
150 tweeters
150 center
150 mids
Last, I could keep the 1,000w sub amp for a 3 amp setup
Lev+Dread
300 MB
225 mids
300 center
225 tweeter
2 Levs
300 MB
300 mid
300 center
150 tweeters
I'm thinking the first option would probably be the best for the 2 amp setup. This is making my head hurt. I think it would be a good idea to keep the current sub amp around until I get some listening time on the new setup. Anyone see some obvious flaw that I might have missed?

Thanks Eggy. I liked this one the best as well. I think the biggest gain I could possibly make over number one is with 3 amps and that would be 75w only on the midbass but with 225w already I doubt I'll miss it. That little Esotar 430 has nearly 1" total excursion, can't wait to put some power on it and see how it sounds.

I wrote something to do with salad tossing and dressing but that was too bad even for this board lol. Besides, I think Majofo would get mad if you do any salad tossing without him.
Sorry, that's each speaker as in 225w for each midbass. I had it all written out where it was easier to understand and then deleted the post by accident so I got lazy.

You guys might think I'm crazy but I'm considering going back to one of the amps I already had at one time, the RF T1000ad. 250wx4 @4ohms and I can get it new for about $300 cheaper than the equivalent ZED amp through Sonic Electronix.
