Question Trying to determine if screen or dvd in trunk is bad

So my 04 Acura TL is having an issue with the Navigation screen. I was able to input the security code so the Radio and A/c all works. The navigation screen appears whitish/grey though. I followed the instructions to remove and clean the DVD player in the trunk but I get the same results. How do we know if the issue is with the LCD screen or the unit in the trunk? One thing I did notice is that I don't see the FM station or information in the info screen above the LCD screen where the clock is. Is this because the Navigation code is not put in ? The DVD unit in the trunk allows me to remove and add the DVD without any issues. Even with the DVD player completely removed I get the same grey screen. I am guessing its the display rather than the unit in the trunk. What do you guys think? I just didn't want to waste $360 sending it to Alpine only to find it was the LCD Screen.

Any help is appreciated

Called Alpine and recommended me to take it to the stealership. I figure its either the DVD player or the screen, what else could it be?
He was nice about and said If I wanted I could send my DVD player in to have diagnostic run and if all is fine they'd on;y charge me $25 for return shipping. Whats odd is that I NEVER see the Acura Navigation screen as shown below:

It just stays on the grey screen, dim lit screen. I am tempted to try to replace the screen first to see if it fixes the issue, hoping someone has similar response or issue could shed some light

sounds like the screen.

cuz even if it was the dvd player; the screen would display "check dvdplayer" or some error like that.

and if you've never seen the "navigation system" screen that also leads me to believe its the screen

if you have any buddies with a TL, you could swap the DVD drives to check.

Thanks for the response, unfortunetly the one other person I know with a TL doesn't have navigation. I am considering buy a screen and radio combo off eBay. It worries me that I can't see the FM station in the information area where the clock is. Makes me wonder if the issue is just with the screen? I was considering this > http://www.ebay.com/itm/191631001579?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
That way I can replace both the screen and radio at once. Does the navi code go with the radio ? or the unit in the back?
