Trouble finding XM radio ID
Trouble finding XM radio ID
I just purchased a 2006 TL on Friday and I've been trying to subscribe to XM with no success. Im very new to the navi system so hopefully it's just a case of ignorance and an easy fix. Xm tells me to go to channel 0 to get the radio ID but I'm unable to get to channel 0. There is a direct connect ipod hookup which uses the XM channel to play over and I believe that is the main interference. I plan on calling XM tomorrow and seeing if they can pull my ID from my vin but if someone knows how to solve my problem that would be great.
well try pushing the XM button again to try to get to the XM channels. You should get channel 0 and channel 255 at a minimum. If you cannot get that then buying the subscription would be useless!
You may have to end up disconnecting the ipod hookup to get the XM to work and maybe buy a Y adapter for it.

Yeah if the iPod Cable is connected Directly to the XM Slot you wont get any signal from your XM turner to the radio because its not connected. Try What CSMEANCE Said and if you NEED and iPod connection get the Y Connector or See if you have an AUX Plugin in the Middle Console.
If you have the iSimple iPod adapter thing like I have in my 05, when you push the XM button you need to use the right knob and turn it until the screen displays SAT.
For me, once I hit my XM button I can toggle between SAT, IPOD, AUX1, and AUX2. Maybe it works differently since you have NAV but that may be your issue. Do you use your CD disc numbers to operate your iPod...i have to push 6 to select my input on my screen.
If you ipod just replaces your XM input on your radio yuor gonna need to either disconnect it or buy the iSimple iPod adapter.

Ok I do have the iSimple iPod hookup. When I press the Xm button again it switches from Xm1 to Xm2. The right knob changes the songs and the 1-6 preset buttons change the play options. I want to have use of my iPod and Xm but I'm not the most tech savvy person on the block.
Alright so here is what you do: Hit you CD/FM or any other button thats not XM. Then, hit your XM button and turn the knob (that changes the songs) until SAT appears on yuour screen. Once you see that press preset 6 and XM will turn on. Kind of annoying when switching cause you gotta hit a different mode and then go back into XM. Make sure you turn the knob right after you hit the XM button....and then everything should work. You should be able to switch between iPod, XM, Aux 1 (where you can control ipod manually instead of through radio) and Aux 2 (you can hook up like a DVD player to this is HD radio).
Try let and let me know. This was the first mod I purchased, and at the time I did not want to mess with my car (before I read these damn forums and dropped another 6k on mods, although its been a great learning experience). The Audio place my ACURA dealer reccomended installed this and couldnt even figure out how to use it...
