That is the little trip computer that displays average milage that you can display in the right gauge cluster. This is opposed the trip computer that supposedly you could access from the navi if you used the Honda interface for the Accord. Then you would get instantaneous mileage readouts.
Hi all! New here, but very eager to learn. I'm quite disappointed with the trip computer in the MID and would absolutely LOVE to have access to the Accord trip computer. I've done a lot of research, but it looks like clubtsx site is down, so I've been trying to read the google cached web pages. ANYWAY, I tried the above, but it appears that the 05 TLs are looking at a different file. When I go into the diagnostic screen it says it's loaded BNHH401A.bin
Has anyone figured out what files correspond to what cars? Looked like a guy on clubtsx did, but I couldn't view any of the pics.
Bin files contained on the Nav Disk are:
BN2HH12C
BN2HH110
BN2HH120
BN2HN12B
BN2HN18B
BN2HN380
BNHH401A
BNHN404A
all of these files are about 13.3 MB or so.
Seems like there should be a way to hack these *.bin files and just flip on or off the features we want. Of course, I usually have enough information to make myself dangerous... But I'm usually able to back myself out.
Help would be greatly appreciated!!

Just curious, please also mention the version on the DVD that came with you 05 TL. this way we can see if the filenames are any different than the older/newer version
version number I'll have to grab tonight as I drove my junker truck to get it off the street for sweeping today. But I do know that the database is dated July of 2004. I remember the version to be 3.0 but can't remember if there was a letter associated with it as some people have been chatting about.
And believe me, I've been spending the last couple of days scouring through these old threads and have found some super cool stuff. That's why I was kinda disappointed when this mod didn't work. I ended up burning a couple of CDs last night trying various things. If the CD contained the BNHH401A.bin file, it would recognize it and load, but if I follow the directions in this thread dated nearly a year ago and do not include the above file, it gives a disk error. What I did NOT try to do was rename the 401A file name to something else.
My guess is that the file names I've listed above correspond to different models of Acura/Honda, especially since the files sizes are all about the same. I also searched through the binary text to see if I could see an occurance of "Honda" "Acura" "Accord" or "TSX". All of the files contain those words in varying frequency. Some refer to Hondadlr and others have Acuradlr burried in there.
I could give a darn about that nag screen. I've only had the car a couple of months and it's second nature to smack the button. But now I'm on a quest to display the trip computer!
As an engineer, the MID with only TWO signifigant digits is VERY frustrating to me.

BTW, If its .Net, I'd rather make my own rather than modify Acura's. I do a lot of .net stuff all day long anyway. I just wouldn't have guessed that was what it was 'cause it doesn't have the .net look to it. Can anyone say Google maps? How cool would that be? If there ever is a formal work group on this, count me in. I plan to at least examine how the navigation system works. (chip-sets, hidden ports, IO, what that darn card slot does)
My wife just got a '06 MDX..and the nav system is so much cooler in a lot of little ways... more voice commands, shorter nag screen (instantly shows "OK" to push), nicer graphics (show a little road in the right-hand side of the nav screen), Zagat ratings (though I can't get them to show) instant update trip computer...etc etc... I'm kinda pissed... I mean I love mt 05 TL... but I can't have my wife getting cooler gadgets than me
can you load her nav disc into your car? Maybe even just some of the features such as trip computer?
It would be interesting to see if this is possible. My mom is getting an MDX this week probably. We are going in tomorrow.

Dono.. I may try it when she get's back from her client... I'll let you all know... it may not work because I think she has the Gen 4 Navi... but all my system can do is tell me that the disc is wrong and tell me to load the right disc... shouldn't harm anything

(For instance the switch for hi-beams) doesn't go straight to the hi-beams relay, it is first turned into commands and sent across a serial-port-ish network to the MICU (Multiplex Integrated Control System) located near the driver foot well fuse box. This computer interprets the commands and performs actions as well as outputs diagnostic codes for the service guys. If you get into the diagnostic screen of your navi, you should be able to run a diagnostic of that com network, and it shows you a pretty nice diagram. Even better ones should be in a pdf file linked to on this page http://rapidshare.de/files/7599227/TL_Manual.pdf.html Some jerk put the TL Manual up on rapidshare so people could work on their own cars. What is this world coming to!!

The reason we probably don't have the navi trip computer is that there is only so much memory available for the Navi software. In order to have all the voice commands the Honda doesn't have as well as the sub-woofer and center channel, they problably needed to eliminate the trip computer to leave memory space.
