Treo 650 with BT in 6 months from Verizon

Just heard from a friend who talked to Verizon rep. Treo 650 with BT is coming in 6 months. Can anybody corroborate this?

Check here for the latest Treo 650/Ace rumors, speculation and general bloviation:

HOWEVER, note that nobody seems to know yet if the Treo 650/Ace will have a Bluetooth handsfree profile. No HFP, no pairing with the TL.

Chances are that the bluetooth will not support handsfree profile. I have yet to see a PDA Phone sync up with HFL. If it does indeed sync up though, I'll be amazed.

I am told it WILL have the handsfree profile. Hope so--I currently use a Treo 600 for PDA/data/e-mail and a SE T637 for my principal phone. If the new Treo works with the Bluetooth AND has good battery life, I can consolidate devices.

The HP IPAQ 6315 also has the handsfree profile but being that its software driven, it will not work with HFL.

Even if it doesnt, The Treo is like a computer. A simple Firmware update will fix the problem.

A firmware update DOES NOT specifically add any new features to a phone. Especially if it doesn't support the HFL feature, it would take months of testing in order to get that implemented. I would like to see a PDA/Phone to get the feature but I highly doubt it.

Agreed, implementation on PDA phones seems distant. Correct me if I am wrong but didnt someone post that there is limited HFL functionality with the P910? If so that is at least a step in the right direction...

The P910 supports the handsfree profile but it will not suppor the HFL on the TL. I have not read too much into this device since it was a waste of Sony Ericsson's time to re-create the P900. This was only an evolutionary step, not revolutionary...as we will see in the P1000.

I cant wait for the 650 to come out:

BT w/HFL is the big factor for me. If it has it, I'm sold on it.

Got a source within PalmOne, hmmmm? Please do share, unless you've signed a NDA.

Hey guys. I have a Treo 600 and a motorola V600 right now from tmobile. I've had several generations of palm phones and have found each one to be quite buggy. Here is a link to the phone i'm truly lusting for(motorola mpx). If it doesn't have the HFP i'm going to very dissapointed. Hopefully the treo 650 or the MPX will have it.

Define buggy and be specific with the issues with the V600 and any phone you've owned....the word is used too many times and has become a cliche....like windowsXP and the blue screen. lol.

You might have just changed my mind, csunracer...as long ans the MPx has HFL, I can forget about the Treo650. I hate PalmOS. It's all about PocketPC!

According to another user at howardforums, it does indeed have the HFL profile. I'd kill to get my hands on one of the engineering models. Here's the thread:

This very long thread at TreoCentral.com:

http://discussion.treocentral.com/se...earchid=508378

provides confirmation (including Bluetooth setup screen shots) that the Sprint version of the 650 will have handsfree Bluetooth support. Whether Verizon will be so generous with their version of the 650 remains to be seen.

My source is with Sprint, and the recent pictures posted on TreoCentral.com confirm what I was told about it working with Handsfree.

I played with an engineering version of the 650 and the BT did not work with the TL.

Also played with an early engineering version of this handset and it didn't appear that it had the profile either. Note that it was an EARLY version and things change.

Will Acura ever update their compatibility list, or are we going to have to figure this out for ourselves? 80% of the phones they list are no longer available. I hope the Treo 650 has the HFP in its release. I don't know if I want to pay $1000+ for the MPx when it arrives in stores.

I was ready to plunk down my money on a Treo600 until I bought a new TL AND now find out the Treo650 will have Bluetooth - and now you guys kill me with the news that it still might now work. ARGGGHHHH!!!

By the way - just bought a Belkin Tunecast II and it works great in the TL.

I have an engineering prototype of the Motorola MPX with bluetooth on the way. I'll keep you guys posted as to whether it works or not. I currently have the treo 600 right now and it's a decent phone but it is still plagued by it's shortcomings.

Which MPX the 220 or the 300? The 220 works. As far as the 300... I played with an earlier prototype and it didn't work... but that could be b/c it was an early unit.
