The Treo 650 is not going away any time soon and I highly doubt any carrier would release a 2nd Treo simultaneuosly with the same operating system.
sorry dude....P is for Palm OS and W is for Windows OS.

Perhaps Verizon will only carry the Windows model (which is much less stable, btw) but I know for sure Spring will only carry the 700p and that wont be out til the summer.

I just had to replace my 650 today after my lab puppy decided to chew the circuit board AND eat the 1gig SD card...

Actually Verizon has a deal with Palm to be the exclusive carrier for the 700w for one year. Sprint has the exclusive contract on the 700p for one year. After the year is over either carrier can pick up the handset. I will bet that Verizon will try to pick up either the 700p or its predecessor with palm OS, since the 700w has been a pretty big flop for them. I had the 700w and I found it cumbersome at best. I have switched back to my 650 and razr for the time being.

So we have a little over 5,000 phones with Sprint in my company. They are telling us that the 700P will be orderable for business in May, for consumer use by August.

Just some insight, for whatever its worth.

The link I posted a couple posts up shows the leaked Sprint documents that show a 5/28 release date. We'll just wait and see what happens.

I probably won't upgrade from my Sprint Treo 650, but if I did, I'd much rather have the 700 (Palm) vs. the 700 (Windows).

Cingular Treo 650 crashing - found a pattern

Like some others here, my Treo 650 crashes sometimes when using it with the HFL. What I've discovered is that if I recently used the web browser, it will crash the first time I try to make a call via HFL in the TL. I don't know if it's the GPRS connection still being active that creates a conflict of some sort or what. If I haven't used GPRS within a few minutes of starting the car, or while in the car with it running, then it works fine.

Outside of the HFL/bluetooth issues, with the most recent updates, my Treo is overall more stable than before, but it still seems like a beta test more than a ready-for-primetime tool.

I'm sure the 700p will be in tight supply when it comes out.. Apple is eatting up so much flash memory for iPods that the supply for phones is tight.

Verizon 650 HF Problem

I have a 650 through verizon and have few problems. Ocassionally the Treo will reboot but I can't use the option to call "home" or other numbers stored in my contacts. I am missing something? I use goodlink for all that other stuff on it. Can anybody help me?

Technically the Verizon 650 is still lagging behind all the other T650's and has not gotten the most current BT stack. The VZW T650 is also listed as being "not compatible" with the TL.

Spint's T650 got the last BT stack in 6/2005, and the other GSM carriers following early 2006 with firmware upgrades to the stack. VZW has so far not come up to the same level as the other carriers. Maybe they want people to buy the T700W, I'm not sure.

Even with the latest firmware it's still not perfect... but you're phone is lagging behind all the other T650's out there. I'm sure that is part of your problem.

So I am sorry to dig up this old thread, but due to lack of time and patience it wasn't until last night that I was able to attempt repairing my Cingular 650 with the TL. I had to go through a whole load of crap to get the new update reinstalled, but now I have Treo650-1b.17-CNB on the phone. It says the HFL is already on that update. So I paired the phone and still have the same problem, although now I get signal strength showing on the MID and RM as well. I can receive a call fine, but if I initiate a call it does nothing, I have to hang up and then do it again for it to work. If any one has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated.

Sprint Treo 650 re-boot issue

Does anyone run Goodlink software on their Treo 650? My employer forces goodlink software on all 650 users and it seems to force several unexplained reboots when using the phone with the HFL in my '05 TL.

I have a problem with the phone rebooting from time to time and I don't have that software that you mentioned. I think my problem stems from pushing the phone to hard. ie: send a text and while waiting for a reply, jumping on the internet or downloading e mail. Now that I think about it I can recall a time when I was hands free dialing in the car and the phone rebooted. But I think it's more the phone than anything else. my cars an 04.

I have goodlink installed and it was rebooting when I made calls through the HFL, but I recently had IT install the newest version and dont have the problem anymore. Goodlink sucks, but its the best thing out now.

Looks like the 700p might have been delayed until 5/28. When someone gets one, make sure to post a note about how well it connects to your car (I will if I get one first.

You and me both, buddy! I've been waiting for a while for this phone... I knew which car I wanted, just not which phone to pair with it. We'll see who gets it first :)
