I have TT920 for 2 months now, and I have to say tom tom is the best out of all current gps. It has many options that you can customize to your liking beside guide you to your destination such as customize start up and shutdown screen, custom voice, custom point of interestes, able to fix or report incorrect map, can play movie (with aftermarket software), mp3, traffic report, custom day/night map color, etc.. ; however, if you don't know much about computer stuffs, magellan or garmin is the choice. Map direction and routing route is accurate enough and signal strength is pretty good. 920 model has bluetooth hand free phone call, receive text message, and semi-handfree find location is also nice feature for the money.

Just curious how much are you guys paying for your TOMTOM or Garmin?? When I bought my TL, I opt not to purchase the Navi and totally regret it now. Therefore, I am thinking of getting one of these too.

My other question is aren't you guys afraid someone will break in to your car to steal the navi?? Unless you take it out from the docking and hide it somewhere in the car. But that can be a pain though.

Nice work by the way!!! Looks really nice and clean!!

^^ mines has a suction cup window mount for now till i find a better place to put it.. but the screen just comes right off, and you can leave the suction cup part there... takes me like 5 seconds to take it off and put it in my glove box or armrest, and vice-versa..

you get used to it after a few times..

ed99: I bought mine for $350 CDN no-tax from a local that works for BestBuy so he got a nice deal for me. I don't usually hide my navi unless if I park in a not-so-safe neighbourhood. besides, it looks oem to me so the wanna-steal guys might think it's a pain in the ass to steal. liek NoLimitDesc metioned, it's really easy to take off, especially if you go with the docking station like mine. Just grab it and put in the armrest.

I did a roadtest with one of the acura mechanics and he was impressed with the setup. haha ... he said it actually is more clear than the oem one ... i guess he's just being nice

hihenry.com: I understand that you run the USB cord into where the clock used to be but where does it pop out before it connects to the power outlet?

Also, can you take a pic of what I am asking above and the dash when the unit is removed.

Thanks

BTW Nice work!!!

also, you might be able to get your TomTom to turn off when you turn your car off.
go to Menu->Change Preferences->hit next a few times->choose Battery saving preferences->select Never turn off screen->Done->then select Switch off when external power is lost

monacm2 & jdircksen: you have to remove the clock panel (which is basically the vent panel). I had the dealer to remove it for me as it is really hard to get off. Once you've removed it, you'll see that there are openings that leads to around where the gas pedal is. I basically drop the wire there, take out the center console's driver side panel, and hide the wire there. I use a cig charger to USB converter to so that I don't have to modify the wire or solder it. Just plug and play!.

I'll take some pictures!

jdircksen: thanks for the tip! I am searching for a way to turn it on when there's external power (or in charging mode). Is there such a way! that would be very convenient!

i cant remember the price now, but i think it was like $50 off the "normal" price because i bought it right after xmas, so like $500-ish. and i didnt get the 920T, just the normal 920. Mine didnt come with the traffic alert attachment.

and i ALWAYS remove the GPS when i leave or at least lock it in my glove compartment. its a pain, but well worth it when you are talking about a pocket-sized $500+ device. If i drove a lot of little trips it would really suck, but i usually just drive a few long trips a day.
