TL-S ipod questions ????

It seems there is no new harness coming from periphael, so has anyone with a 07/08 TL-S had "success" (no skipping and sterring wheel control of the ipod) with the dice unit or the "new" USA unit?

Thanks in advance

The peripheral unit would have been my first choice. However i "thought" in the type-s, the peripheral unit does not work (without issues) unless you have the new harness. This having something to do w/ navtraffic (which I don't even subscribe to (XM - yes Traffic - no). Peripheral has stated they probably won't make the new harness. This leaves us open to other suggestions.

Thanks

Check out playa4real post. I made my own harness, I hooked the wires directly to the XM unit and onto the car harness. Works flawless even NAV traffic works.

Did you just use a "standard off the shelf unit"? or did you need to buy any connectors? (you could probably pick up some cash modding these - ). I need to get one working, but don't feel like "rewireing a harness".

Thanks

Its pretty simple, what I did is made a diagram of the original harness and were all the wires were located then I took off the molded ends(left the one that goes to the peripheral unit alone) also wouldn't hurt if you update your Peri unit. You will also need to get 6 additional jumper wires about 8in. long that have both end on them one female one male ends on them these go between the car harness and the XM unit. The easiest way of getting these is to buy an additional harness. You will also need some heat shrink I think it was 11/32 size to put over the ends of the now bare connectors. Also if you can put some tags on all the wire ends that way you could identify them a lot easier. Once you got this done you are half way there ,then go to the post were I have the wiring diagram and number them the way I have them do not pay attention to the wire colors as some will be different you will also have to cut some of the ends because the position there going to be connected is different gender this were the 2nd harness will come in handy as you could use the other ends to keep the harness long enough. Then start by seperating the wires comming from the Pereipheral unit into 3 bundeles.Wires that "T" to both connectors, wires that go to the male side and the ones that go to the female side. Once you do this start at the male end and XM unit by pushing the end onto the pins inside the XM unit once you do this you could see were the heat shrink will be positioned on the ends.
