Yes, unfortunately. We have it in our area but I don't subscribe to XM. I think the NavWeather is the same. Welcome to Acurazine

first post!! bought a 2007 KBP TL-S and Im in love with it. but its funny because i have the xm with traffic and i don't really see any difference in the navi with the xm or without it. how do i even know if it's working or not? i mean xm could be charging me and not even have it turned on for christ sakes. is there an icon somewhere that shows its working?

Where do you live? Here in LA there is always some traffic to report. Make sure that your location is served by NavTraffic (check their website).

When NavTraffic is working you will see the freeways displayed in a color representing the average speed on that stretch of highway. NavTraffic also displays accidents and construction with warning signs.

The cost of Nav Traffic is an extra $2.99 via XM/Sirius.

What's your opinion of navtraffic?

I had it in my TL and in my CL with an aftermarked pioneer navi. I always thought the incidents were way outdated. I had many instances when i see lanes blocked and accidents on the navi but when I get there, the traffic isn't even backed up and no hint of accidents. The only thing that was mildly accurate was the highway speed sensors but twice I opted to reroute and I got in an even bigger mess.

I think that for a paid service the quality is quite poor. I just use my iPhone now to view traffic if I really need to.

I use phone for traffic updates Google Maps or Windows Live Maps, which (I hate to say) is more accurate. I think it's not worth paying extra for XM Traffic info.

We had it for 2 weeks last summer in Kansas City and I liked it. It all depends how well the info is updated in your area.

with windows live maps, you can't get it to use your position from the iphone right? You just put in the zip or city you're in. Okay, i just went to the bing maps page, omfg it's retarded on the iphone

i live in buffalo NY and the traffic isn't really a problem here except for weekdays around rush hour, and only then its like a 20 minute delay at the worst times unless there's an accident. i just haven't seen any color changes for my local routes. hell, i use my iphone for traffic more than i do the navi in the car, but i'd like to change that. thanx for the reply guys.

Oh btw the traffic info only shows if your something like 4 to 7 'zoom' units from max zoom. Basically click the up arrow on your zoom till it won't go any further then press 3 or 4 times on the down arrow. I can't remember right now exactly the range, but you know how you have a line of squares indicating all zoom levels, and an arrow indicating your current zoom. Well most boxes are hollow, but there are about 4 of them near the top that are solid black, that's where traffic shows.

Though I admit every once in a while my navi would go stupid and all boxes were black and no traffic info was showing.
I realize this is a poor description let me know if you want me to take a picture tomorrow. Though I currently don't have navtraffic subscription, I can show you the zoom range.

Is there a built in weather service too? I got my TL used and haven't even considered paying for XM. I'm guessing that there would be three prices. Music, traffic and weather?
